Salted Watercolor Tag

The visual textures are amazing.

Tag it Tuesday

finished tag

I began this tag with an inspiration piece in mind and created the background using a watercolor technique combined with a salt reaction. Watching the salt interact with the wet paint to form unique textures and patterns is always fascinating—it brings an element of unpredictability. As the background developed, the evolving textures sparked new ideas, shifting the creative direction mid-process. It’s amazing how these unexpected changes can lead to a final piece that’s even more dynamic and unique than originally envisioned!

materials

Starting with the tag and painting the background with watercolors that were inspired by a small ephemera piece, I added salt to the paint and let it dry.

The visual textures on this finished tag are truly amazing. The interplay of colors and the unique patterns created by the salt reaction add depth and character, making the design come alive. Each detail draws the eye, showcasing the beauty of organic, unplanned artistry. It’s a piece that invites you to look closer and appreciate the layers of texture and creativity.

Stamped Fairy Tag

Stamping a fairy tag for Tag it Tuesday.

Tag it Tuesday

finished tag

This week’s tag is a whimsical creation that transports you to a mystical garden, complete with a charming fairy! Using a combination of a stencil and stamps, this project layers intricate patterns and enchanting details to craft a magical scene. Start by stenciling a lush garden background, then add stamped elements and, of course, a delicate fairy. You can then enhance the design with gold watercolor to add sparkle. Perfect for gifts, journals, or as a standalone piece, this tag is a fun and creative way to bring a touch of fantasy to your crafting.

materials

I blended Distress Oxide inks into a stencil and then stamped the fairy in the same ink and the flowers in black.

sentiment

I used a sentiment and Rinea Foil to finish off the tag and then decided to spritz the tag with gold shimmer spay. If you are interested in the shimmer spray here is a video with instructions [Shimmer Spray] and if you are interested in the printable words they are available here [word set]

Embossing Alcohol Ink

Alcohol pearls on a embossed image.

final tag

Wow! The results of the pearl alcohol ink on an embossed sheet of photo paper are absolutely stunning. While the colors didn’t travel or blend extensively, the way they broke down is so exciting and adds a vibrant look to the design!

materials

I started by embossing a sheet of photo paper from the Dollar Tree, then applied Alcohol Pearls along with rubbing alcohol to create a vibrant design. For the areas where the ink didn’t fully cover, I blended the colors with my fingers, adding a personal touch to the finished piece!

parts of the tag

When I trimmed the photo paper for the final tag, I noticed it was a bit fragile. To reinforce it, I backed it with a piece of color-coordinating cardstock. For the finishing touch, I added a sentiment cut from cardstock, tying the whole design together beautifully!

Tuesday Tag: Watercolor Edition

Let’s wrinkle our watercolor painting.

final tags

This week’s Tag it Tuesday features the fun and unique watercolor wrinkle technique! I ended up creating the tag twice because the first attempt didn’t get recorded, but honestly, I think I like the second version even more. What do you think of the finished look? Let me know your thoughts!

Get Creative With Strips of Paper!

Fun paper crafting with strips of paper.

Tag Tuesday Fun

Creating a grungy tag for Tag it Tuesday is such a fun paper craft! Start with strips of paper in various colors, textures, and patterns to build up an interesting, layered background, I used paint swatches. Distress the edges of the tag for a worn, grunge look. Once you’ve got your base, embellish it. The end result is a unique, edgy tag perfect for adding flair to journals, scrapbooks, or gift tags! (The bunny ended up looking a bit sad)

Wavy Lines Tag

A marker art tag that features bold, organic lines and intricate patterns that echo traditional Native Alaskan aesthetics.

Tag it Tuesday

finished tag

It is fun to start making art without a plan in place. I started drawing a few lines and then thickening them up. I filled in the negative spaces being directed by their shapes. I wanted to a bit of color so I chose red. The result reminds me of native Alaskan Art.

materials

You can craft with simple/basic materials. I started with a white tag and two black markers. I finished up with as Posca red paint pen. The finished tag was quick and easy.

How to Craft with Tags

Transfer printable tags into eye-catching pieces.

finished tags

A few weeks ago, I shared a free printable featuring adorable Halloween-themed tags. While these tags are cute on their own, there are endless possibilities to enhance them with added dimension and decorative elements. By incorporating materials like foam tape for a pop-up effect, glitter for sparkle, or layering additional embellishments, you can transform the tags into eye-catching, customized pieces. These simple enhancements elevate the look and make the tags perfect for gift-giving, party favors, or seasonal decorations.

If you missed the free printable you can still get it at the following link: [Halloween tags PDF]

Tag It Tuesday: Distressed Oxides Stenciling

Using distressed oxides in green and a stencil for a classic look.

finished tag

I used Distress Oxides in greens and a stencil to create a classic look. I built up layers with the leave stencil in different colors of green. The unique properties of Distress Oxides allow the colors to blend smoothly while maintaining a chalky, matte finish, giving the tag an elegant feel. Finish it off with a sentiment stamp and die.

materials

Links to the materials used are listed at the bottom of this post. The stencil I used is shrink plastic left over from another project.
