How to Weave a Paper Vase

Weave a paper vase with this free SVG file.

finished vase with flowers

This month Pop-Tone is the featured cardstock over at CutCardStock. I’ve created a decorative piece that is 3-dimensional. The above is shown in two coordinating colors but it works equally well in one color. Such a cute finished piece that is great for gift-giving, decorating a small space, or sharing as a group craft project with others.

cardstock colors used

I used two colors from the Pop-Tone sample pack, Gumdrop Green, and Sour Apple. These are 65# card stock. Each Pop-Tone sample pack comes with one sheet of all the colors in the 65 lb cover weight and has one sheet of each of the Pop-Tone 100 lb cover weight. This is a nice way to sample all the colors. Of course, you can purchase the colors separately.

cricut maker

I cut the design on a Cricut Maker. Before cutting, I scaled the design to fit onto a letter-size sheet, then I set my file to cut 1 of each of the two colors. The cutting pressure was set to 100# cardstock with no additional pressure.

cut pieces

To begin weaving, flip one of the colors so the angled “rays” are in the opposite direction from the other piece, and then stack them on top of each other.

weaving

I used binder clips to hold the weaving in place to make sure the results were correct before gluing it all together.

Making a Circular Box

Grab the free SVG and follow the tutorial to make a circular box. Great for storage or gift giving.

finished round box

Not only was this circular box fun to put together, but it also has great function. You can use it for storage or as a wrapping for a gift. The SVG file is adjustable so you can make the box in a variety of different sizes. The design comes with the top decorative element but you could omit that and do your own thing with the basic circular box.

cardstock packs

I used the Glama Card Stock in Kraft for the box structure and MirriSparkle Glitter Card Stock in Gold for the top decoration. The Gold Card Stock has a glittered front with a matte white back. It is great for crafting as the glitter doesn’t flake off.

cricut maker

I cut the file on a Cricut Maker. As a reminder, set the red lines to score and load your scoring tool before setting the file to cut. FYI – I always add additional protection when cutting cardstock by using washi tape around the edges so the cardstock doesn’t move when cutting.

cut out parts

I actually cut two additional circles from the Kraft Card Stock. You will see in the video tutorial that I used them to sandwich the tabs between them for a clean finished look. This also added more stability to the box.

The video tutorial below shows how to put it together.

This view shows the detail of the decorative piece on the top of the box. There is a bit of glue showing but it will dry clear and not be noticeable. I really like how the kraft card stock and the glittery gold work together.

Weave a Ribbon Greeting Card

ribbon card

I had an idea for weaving ribbon through a card and here is the result. I love how you can change the look by changing the color of the ribbons. What about trying paper strips instead? Don’t add the bow and add a sentiment strip instead would also change the look of the card. It is so versatile.

I used this beautiful Stardream Metallic Crystal cardstock. The cardstock is smooth and metallic. The cardstock has a mica pearlescent coating on both sides. It really is beautiful and shimmery in person. Changing the color of the cardstock would also change the look of the card – again so versatile.

I cut the SVG file on a Cricut Maker. The cardstock is heavy, you might find cutting it twice will help.

Here are all the parts I used to make the card. I used an additional piece of cardstock inside the front flap of the card because one of the ribbon strips was sheer. Depending on the ribbon or paper strips you choose this might not be necessary.

tape inside

I chose to use double-stick tape inside my card to hold the ribbon ends in place. Using a stamp pad to hold back the ribbons while placing the tape was a big help.

Designing a Leaf Letterhead

The Leaf Letterhead SVG file can be used in a variety of different ways.

decor piece

This leaf letterhead svg file is very versatile. I’ve created a finished decor piece with it to show you how it could be used. The design was created to be used in a variety of different ways like a letter, menu, invitation, announcement, and any other way you can imagine. You don’t have to put another piece behind the design, or on top of it as shown. It is just one option for this file.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.

card stock

The Royal Sundance Card Stock in Brilliant White is the star of this post and the card stock that was cut. It’s joined with Stardream Metallic Gold and Glama Card Stock in Kraft. The poem was printed using my Cricut Maker and the Kraft card stock but it could also be printed on a printer.

Cricut Maker

Use a personal cutting machine that works with an SVG file. I am using a Cricut Maker for cutting and writing. Because the design is 8.5″ x 11″, and the card stock is the same size, you have to pay attention to the alignment on your mat. The Kraft card stock was written on and cut on the Cricut Maker too. I used a 0.4 black Cricut pen for the writing.

Triangle Box with CutCardStock

Materials and file links for making a Triangle Box with CutCardStock’s design team.

This post goes along with a project on CutCardStock’s blog where I share tutorials twice a month as a part of their design team. This post contains support links for the files and materials used in the triangle box post.

I used a Cricut Maker to cut the card stock for this project. Since the card stock is heavy (111#) I cut the file twice.

Special thanks go to companies that provide materials for me to use in my posts. For this project, thanks go to Cricut, CutCardStock, and ScraPerfect.

Lucky Card and SVG

Make a lucky card for St. Patrick’s Day.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or know some one Irish? Make this lucky card to send them a greeting. It is a quick card to make with a personal cutting machine. I really like the 3D aspect of the shamrocks (clovers), and there is one lucking one hiding among the others.

Some products used in this post were provided by the following companies: Cricut, CutCardStock, Scrapbook Adhesives

You’ll want to grab the SVG file to make the card and cut it out on your personal cutting machine. I used a Cricut Maker.

Purchase file: St. Patricks Day SVG

Materials:

  • SVG file linked above
  • Personal cutting machine (Cricut Maker)
  • white cardstock
