Making Recipe Cards

with Kokorosa

stamp and cards

Using a stamp set from Kokorosa and a free printable recipe card template, I made these adorable recipe cards. The cards would make a great gift for a newly married couple, someone who requests a recipe, a child leaving the house for the first time, or even a new mom.

Making a Thanks Card

with Penny Black

thanks card

Keeping small thank-you cards in your stash are so useful. I made this one with products provided to me by Penny Black. I fell in love with the Stick and Shine sticker set, it was so so fun to work with.

Here are the materials I worked with. The links below are for Penny Black products provided to me at Creativation and available on Amazon.

Tag it Tuesday – Shimmer Tag

shimmer tag

Today’s tag uses shimmer powders. They are so fun and unpredictable. This Shimmer tag might be my favorite tag so far in the series. The color is randomly created by using Nuvo Shimmer Powders.

I began by stamping an image and heat embossing it. Then I applied the shimmer powders. And then finally adding a die-cut sentiment. See how fun it was to create in the video tutorial.

If you are interested in learning about my cheap resource for cardstock, here is the video link: [Cheap Cardstock] This is one of the ways I cut words and sentiments to store for use later.

Tag it Tuesday – Mica Powder

mica tags

It is so fun to stamp with mica powders, especially interference colors. The colors show best on dark surfaces, and you don’t know what you will get until you apply it.

If you make tags or enjoy tags, I’d love for you to join us at Crafting Tags

If you would like to make your own DIY resist spray that I used to seal the tags, here is the tutorial: [spray]

Tag it Tuesday – Faux Watercolor

tag image

This week for Tag it Tuesday we are exploring a faux watercolor technique. If you don’t know how to watercolor or don’t feel confident in your ability, this technique will provide the look of a painted image.

materials

Stamping your image and then using a water brush to move the ink around simulates the look of a watercolored image. I find this technique playful and relaxing without the stress of painting from scratch.

Tag it Tuesday – Mini Tags

mini tags

This week’s tag tutorial is making mini tags using a squish technique and then stamping with black ink. It took a bit longer because we had to wait for the backgrounds to dry thoroughly before cutting and stamping. But the result is attractive.

The black ink stamped and then blended around the edges really works well for these mini tags.

Painting a Postcard

Painting a postcard with edding paint liners.

with Edding

postcard

I love the color combination of pink and black. This postcard uses them in a few unique ways to create a whimsical look. The paint was from Edding paint markers. The silver is so metallic even when watered down. I used the paint directly from the pen, with a brush, and splattered it.

edding products

At a recent trade show, I was given samples from edding including a postcard pack and two paint pens (edding 5400 acrylic 3D double liner). The paint pens have two ends, one small and one larger. They aren’t a marker tip or a brush but an opening that you can squeeze paint through. Either end of the marker disburses paint contained in the center of the paint pen.

The links provided are for your use and may contain affiliate links.
They cost nothing for you to use.
Thank you in advance for supporting this site with its use.

stamping

After painting, I stamped an image over the watered-down painted center of the card. I chose to use a stamping platform because I wanted to gain a rich black stamped image. Stamping the image twice got the desired result.

See how nice the pink (classy mauve) and black work together. The postcard; with the pink paint and black stamping, is pretty and could be finished, I wanted to add the silver paint as well.

cat tag

Cats are playful. The Nala stamp from Fairy Stamper needed to be playful and the scrapbook paper with the birds worked well. I put the two together to make a playful tag.

Materials:

  • scrapbook paper
  • cardstock
  • Nala stamp
  • black ink pad
  • clear embossing powder
  • heat gun
  • DIY shimmer spray
  • Distress Oxide
  • blending brush
  • ribbons
  • hole punch
  • works board
  • scissors
  • tape runner

The glimmer on the tag is hard to capture on video and photography. Hopefully, the image above shows a bit of how it shimmers. I make my own shimmer spray. If you would like to learn how to make your own you can follow this link. [DIY shimmer spray]

Making a Get-Well Card

Making a get-well card with Fairy Stamper stamp and stencil.

with Fairy Stamper

finished card

As a part of the Fairy Stamper’s Video Design Team, I have a new card tutorial for making a get-well greeting card. I could probably send this to myself as I am getting over a cold that lasted a long 2.5 weeks where I lost my voice. So I have a lot of catching up to do. Thankfully, no Covid, I was tested twice!

materials

Materials:

  • stencil
  • cardstock – blue, green, white
  • blending brush
  • Distress Oxide
  • Pixie spray
  • stamps
  • Works Board
  • white embossing powder
  • DIY shimmer spray
  • adhesive
  • heat gun
  • Rinea Foiled Paper – die-cut sentiment

I wanted to try something different with my stamping in that we typically stamp in black and I wanted to use white. I wasn’t sure about stamping a fairy in white so I chose to work with the florals. I also wanted to use a stencil to texturize the background and I really like how that turned out.

Video Tutorial:

The close-up image above caught the DIY shimmer mist really well on the card. If you would like to learn how I made it, you can follow this link. [shimmer mist]

Miniature Card Making

Having fun making a miniature card with Scraperfect.

front of card
front

I enjoy making cards of all different sizes. I don’t limit myself to a standard size. Mini cards are sometimes the most fun cards to make. Probably because I have a love of all things in miniature.

stamping
stamping

Stamping images for die-cutting, I often stamp them more than once – just in case. And when they are small it takes up very little room. You can even use up scraps this way.

Using the mini stamps and dies I might as well also use my Mini Maker from Makers Movement! Taping the dies in place with washi tape helps to keep them aligned.

After coloring the rose with markers and pencils, I am ready to put the card together. Notice I used washi tape on the front of the card and mitered the corners.
