How to Reverse a Stamped Image

Quick and easy mirror a stamped image.

I know a lot of crafters want to flip a stamped image. It seems like when you have a stamp facing one direction, you find a way you want to use it the reverse direction, but how do you accomplish that? I found a simple, easy way with a tool I already had in my collection.

Materials:

  • stamp
  • ink pad
  • Gelli plate
  • cardstock

Video Tutorial:

When you use this technique, the reverse image is a bit lighter but when colored in, the difference isn’t as noticeable.

Make a Quick and Easy Card

Make a quick card from wrapping paper.

Wrapping a present for a birthday party, we needed a card. I had very little time before we needed to leave. After wrapping the present, I decided to use the wrapping paper to make a matching card. It was so quick and easy to do.

As a craft designer, I am provided materials to create with.
Some items used in this post were provided by the manufactures.

Materials:

  • wrapping paper
  • stamp – Stampendous
  • the works board – We R Memory Keepers
  • ink pad – izink
  • cardstock
  • tape runner – Scrapbook Adhesives

*Note: single-sided wrapping paper works best so the design from the other side doesn’t show through like the example does.

CutCardstock Christmas Trees

Grab these free SVG files and make your own light-up Christmas Tree decor.

I created these Christmas Trees for a post at Cut CardStock. We were presented with a mood board to influence our creations this month so I changed my original plan for green trees to red. I think they would also look nice in white. There are two different tree versions, a four-sided tree, and a five-sided tree.

I cut the free SVG files on a Cricut Maker. A special thanks to Cricut and Cut CardStock for providing materials for this post.

The free SVG files:

four sided tree
five sided tree

Don’t forget to set the red lines to score before cutting. You can change the size of the trees as you desire.

Paper Christmas Tree Ornament

Make this tree ornament with a free SVG file included in the post.

I am participating in an SVG hop. This months challenge was to create an ornament. I love making paper ornaments cut on my Cricut Maker. The Maker can cut such detail as seen in the sides of my tree ornament.

This ornament can be cut out and put together as is. You can line the ornament as I have done. I used Rinea foiled paper to do so, or you could line it with tissue paper or rice paper and put a light inside. So you have different options with this ornament along with making it in different sizes or colors.

Materials:

  • Green Cardstock
  • Green Rinea Paper
  • Cricut Maker
  • Free SVG file
  • scissors
  • glue
  • twine

Directions:

SVG file

Download the above SVG file. All black lines and shapes cut while you will need to change the red lines to score before cutting. You might also want to change the size of the file before you cut.

Once the card stock is cut, it should look like the above image. At this point you need to decide if you will line the ornament. The tree ornament is designed so you can place a light inside it if you desire.

To construct the ornament, follow along with the video tutorial below.

Here is my finished ornament hanging on our tree.

Swatching a New Watercolor Set

Learn how to swatch a watercolor set.

I love getting new craft materials. I purchased a new watercolor set on Amazon because my daughter has been powering through my supply of watercolor paints. Before diving into painting, I swatch the colors. It doesn’t matter if the material is watercolor, markers, or such, I always swatch the colors and you should too.

I swatch them in the order they appear in the packaging. It might also be nice to swatch them in blending relationships or color family relationships if they aren’t packaged well together.

Amazon link (affiliate): https://amzn.to/2IV8DvT

Why should you swatch? Often colors won’t appear the same in a solid form. Even if you are provided a printed color chart, it might not relate to how you use the colors. This is often seen in the cap colors of markers. Many artists talk about how the cap colors don’t appear similar to the swatched colors.

I keep the swatch sample with the color materials and often refer to it before choosing a color.

Did you find this helpful. Let me know what materials you swatch before usage.
