Christmas Tree Napkin Ring

Make Christmas tree napkin rings for your holiday table. #svg #freesvg #papertemplate

These are festive quick and easy Christmas Tree napkin rings. They will add a touch of Christmas color to your table decor. With just a few materials you can have a table setting full of them in no time. What a great project to get the family or the children involved in crafting. I used a personal cutting machine but I have included a template to use for cutting out by hand as well.

materials

Materials:

Green paper
Gold paper
Glue Dots
Scissors or Personal Cutting Machine (I used a Cricut Explore Air 2)
Cutting template or SVG cutting files (free)

Directions:

cut shapes

Using a cutting Machine:

Load the SVG file and cut each shape from the appropriate colored paper. Cut as many as you need for your table.

Using the template and scissors:

Cut the appropriate shapes from the corresponding colors. Cut as many as you need for your table.

fitting the napkin ring together

Take the green napkin ring shape and slide the tree halves together. This will make a round napkin ring and a complete tree. Adjust the shape as needed to work with your napkins.

add the star

Use a Glue Dot and adhere the gold star to the top of each Christmas Tree.

Insert the napkins and they are finished and ready to place on your Christmas dining table.

Glass Etch a Popcorn Seasoning Bottle

I can’t believe how well etchall etches the smallest details. I am making a shaker jar for popcorn seasoning and I etched the wording onto the glass. The word popcorn has the first “o” replaced with a piece of popcorn that has the smallest outline and it etched perfectly!

When cutting smaller pieces of vinyl, I like to use my Cricut Joy. It can sit right on my craft table. While the vinyl is cutting, clean the glass jar with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or grease.

After weeding away the type, I applied transfer tape and burnished it down well with my thumb. Be extra careful of all the small pieces. The full size of the image is only 2″ across so those letter centers and the dot on the i are very small.

The jar is ready to etch. I like using inexpensive paint brushes to apply the etchall creme. I apply the creme and set a timer for 15 minutes. That’s all it takes to etch the glass.

After the 15 minutes pass, I remove the etchall creme and return it to its container because it is reusable. For small projects like this, I just clean off any remaining creme with a baby wipe. In the image above I am removing the vinyl. After all the vinyl is removed and discarded, I once again clean the etching with a baby wipe and then follow up with rubbing alcohol. I find burnishing the etched image with a dry cloth really enhances the image.

The popcorn seasoning is a homemade mixture, it’s sweet n salty. The ingredient measurements below are perfect for filling this bottle.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp of sugar
2 Tbsp of brown sugar
1/2 Tbsp salt

Mix it well and place it into the bottle.

After making microwave air-popped popcorn, I pour a bit of melted butter and finish off with the popcorn seasoning.

This would make such a cute and easy gift. Combine the seasoning jar with some Amish popcorn kernels and a cute bowl. I bet anyone would appreciate this delicious gift.

Making a Paper Owl Mask

What a fun time of the year to create. As the summer weather turns cooler the colors change to an autumn palette. This DIY mask can be worn for Halloween or made as a decorative piece to hang. If you change the color or eliminate some of the pieces you can totally change the look and feel of the mask. Create in all white and you’d have a beautiful winter owl.

I chose the colors from the Basis line, weighted at 80# cover, and come in a variety of different colors.

Cutting this file on a Cricut Maker, I set it to cut 100# cardstock.

All the pieces are cut and ready to assemble. I set the width of the file to 7.5″ to fit comfortably on the 8.5 x 11″ pieces.

I wanted to add some detail and depth to the mask so I chose to ink blend the pieces with Distress Oxide. Then I worked the pieces with a ball tool to add some actual dimension.

From this angle, you can see the dimension and a close-up of some of the ink blending. Adding a bit of elastic is all that is needed in order to wear the mask.

Making a Fall Leaf Garland

Make a fall leaf garland with CutCardStock and a free SVG file.

Cutcardstock’s featured theme this month is orange, brown, and gold. These colors say fall to me and that makes me think about all the colors of the changing leaves. As a part of the Cutcardstock Design Team, I created an SVG file of leaf shapes. I then cut the file from five different colors of card stock. Using the leaves in a random order, I sewed them together.

These five colors are so beautiful together and the little bit of sparkle from the gold and orange really coordinate well. I cut the leaves from Green Curry, Stardream Metallic Flame, Stardream Metallic Gold, Bonsai, and Kraft.

Three of the colors are 80# card stock and the other two are 105#. These papers cut really well in my Cricut Maker. I used a setting of 100lb card stock. For the two heavier pages I used a pressure setting of more.

Using one page of each color, here are all the cut leaves. Aren’t those colors gorgeous together? From here I made stacks of eleven leaves in random order. This gave me enough to make three strands.

The stacks were then used to sew the leaves. I was amazed at how easily the card stock fed through my machine.

This close-up shows the spacing between the leaves, it was about three to four stitches, you could do more or less depending upon the look you want. Before sewing, you’ll want to start with a tail of thread about 12″ long for hanging.

Here the leaf garland is hanging in a doorway. While I had cut enough for three strands, I am now thinking I need to make more to fill the entire space!

Make a Wreath Card

Make a wreath card in a variety of different ways with this one free SVG file.

Cutcardstock’s featured theme this month is white and ivory. This month I created an SVG file that is more of a kit than one item. The file has a variety of different flora pieces that can be put together in a variety of different ways. You can use the card without any of the additional elements added. I chose to color the flower and leaves for the card I made.

The soft white color, matte vellum finish, and medium weight of this Basic White card stock cuts really well in electronic cutting machines.

I used a Cricut Maker with a 100lb card stock setting and a pressure setting of more. I wanted to make sure the small detailed pieces were cut thoroughly.

There are multiple pieces in the file. The card has a cut-away circle with a woven center. The flora pieces can be added in a variety of different arrangements, or not at all, making this file very flexible for crafting.

Here are the pieces I chose to work with from the file. Using Distress Oxide ink, I blended the ink onto the cut pieces with a brush.

This close-up shows the detail and the dimension of the card.
You also get a nice look at the yellow gem in the flower’s center.

I really like how the light is showing through the woven circle. It would also look nice with a colored inset inside.
