Floral 3D Decor

Make a 3D floral decor with this free SVG file and CutCardStock.

with CutCardStock

final decor piece

This month Pop-Tone is the featured cardstock at CutCardStock. I’ve created a decorative piece that is 3-dimensional but the layers can also be used individually. This would make a beautiful alternative to a bow on a gift. I have a cord attached to mine to hang in a doorway. I like it as is but a tassel might be a nice addition.

cardstock colors

I used three colors from the Pop-Tone sample pack, Gumdrop Green, Blue Raspberry, and Grape Jelly. These are 100# card stock, a nice thickness for 3D creations. Each Pop-Tone sample pack comes with one sheet of all the colors in the 65 lb cover weight and has one sheet of each of the Pop-Tone 100 lb cover weight. This is a nice way to sample all the colors. Of course, you can purchase the colors separately.

cricut maker

Cutting the file on a Cricut Maker, I set it to 100# cardstock with a pressure setting of more.

cut pieces

I set my file to cut 1 of the centerpieces and then 2 of the other pieces so that the piece would be dimensional.

adding gems

I added these glittered gems to the center on each side and it really finished off the piece. It is amazing how such a small thing can add so much to a design.

Making a Window Card

Make a window card with this free SVG file. It’s versatile for many card giving opportunities.

final card

I have another pretty card that could be used for a wedding, an anniversary, or just a special greeting. You can add your own sentiment or leave it as is. There are options for adding 3 dimensions to this card by lifting up some of the cutting. I have also added gems to finish the card off.

The paper I used was Basis White Card Stock for the card. Basis White is so versatile. I love it for the foundation of most of my card making. It cuts and scores beautifully.

cricut maker

At 80#, I choose to set my Cricut Maker at a card stock setting of 100# which works well even for small detailed cuts. Don’t forget to set the red line to score before sending the file to cut.

The addition of the gems to the centers isn’t necessary but a nice option. If you don’t want to use your personal cutter for the smaller square piece, I cut mine on a paper trimmer to 3″ x 3″. The finished card is 4″ x 6″.

Bunny Treat Box and SVG

Make a bunny treat box for Easter with this free SVG file.

with CutCardStock

bunny box

With Easter right around the corner, why not make this cute bunny box. What a cute way to give a treat. Both young and old will get a kick out of it. You can make them in different sizes and colors. Personalize them and they make a great place setting name tag.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.

I used Stardream Metallic Card Stock in Crystal for the box and Astrobright in Pulsar Pink for the ears and nose. CutCardStock’s Stardream line is one of my favorite card stocks with a bit of metallic, it has a great look.

I cut the SVG file out on a Cricut Maker. Placing two different pieces of card stock on the mat, I adjusted the file in Design Space. This made it easier to cut once instead of twice.

As a reminder when cutting, set the red lines to score and load your scoring tool before setting the file to cut. The materials are minimal for this project making it so easy to make. It would be fun to get the kids involved.

I cut the whisker with scissors from a scrap of black and chose to draw in the eyes instead of cutting them out.

The video tutorial below shows how to easily put the pieces together.

This view shows the size of the box that can be made from an 8.5 x 11″ sheet of card stock. Just the perfect size for a treat or a group of jelly beans!

Layered Heart SVG

Create a layered heart valentine with this free SVG file.

with CutCardStock

For Valentine’s Day, I am making a layered heart valentine with CutCardStock. I chose to make the heart alone but you can alter the file in many different ways. Use it as part of a card. Or maybe you want to only use two of the layers. And with any SVG file, you can change the size of the file and the colors you cut them out of for a variety of different looks.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.

I used three different card stocks for my project. The heart is made with layering Pop-Tone Razzleberry as the top layer, Stardream Metallic in Kunzite, and the bottom solid heart layer in Bright Silver Foil.

I cut the three different layers of cardstock on a Cricut Maker. I set the size of the heart to 5″ tall.

You can see how pretty those detailed layers are and they would work well individually as well as together. A totally different idea would be to use them as stencils.

Miniature Card Making

Having fun making a miniature card with Scraperfect.

front

I enjoy making cards of all different sizes. I don’t limit myself to a standard size. Mini cards are sometimes the most fun cards to make. Probably because I have a love of all things in miniature.

stamping
stamping

Stamping images for die-cutting, I often stamp them more than once – just in case. And when they are small it takes up very little room. You can even use up scraps this way.

Using the mini stamps and dies I might as well also use my Mini Maker from Makers Movement! Taping the dies in place with washi tape helps to keep them aligned.

After coloring the rose with markers and pencils, I am ready to put the card together. Notice I used washi tape on the front of the card and mitered the corners.

Layered Color Stamping

Follow along to learn how to layer colors with your stamp to add interest and dimension.

with Fairy Stamper

final card

Using a layered stamping technique can add interest and dimension to your project. I am working with one stamp set from Fairy Stamper, the Fairy Branches, and applying layers of different ink colors to the stamp. With a stamping platform, you can stamp the same image over and over again and get perfect alignment.

Making a Gift Tag

Making a gift tag inspired by ephemera.

Sometimes the materials suggest the project. This is the case with my gift tag made with pieces of ephemera. I loved the little girl knitting and it seemed like the perfect idea to make a gift tag to go with a special handmade knitted gift. The little girl image also set the color theme. I only wish she were crocheting because I do that more often than knitting.

Materials:

To begin, I chose to distress the edges of the colored card stock pieces. I cut the mint cardstock tag first, then the mustard tag a bit larger on all four sides. The mustard rectangle was a leftover piece from cutting the tag. Notice the hole isn’t punched yet in the mustard tag so I can align it correctly with the mint piece. These pieces were cut on the Works Board using the guide for making tags.

Here are all the individual parts ready to put together with The Best Glue Ever. You can watch how it was done in the following video tutorial. While the ribbon bow coordinates well, I couldn’t find the right spot to place it on the tag.

Floral Notecard Free SVG

Make these simple notecards with the free SVG file and card stock from CutCardStock.

with CutCardStock

top fold notecards

Sometimes it is really nice to have a simple but elegant notecard on hand for when you need to write a quick note. The SVG file for this notecard can be adapted into a few different styles. The image above shows one with a color insert that can be changed to any color you desire. Or leave the notecard plain like the card on the right. You can stamp to add a sentiment or add additional design elements if you desire.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.

The Royal Sundance Card Stock in Brilliant White is the foundation for the notecard.

Use a personal cutting machine that works with an SVG file. I used a Cricut Maker at a setting of 100#. Because the design is 8.5″ x 11″, and the card stock is the same size, you have to pay attention to the alignment on your mat. The file will make two cards from one sheet of card stock.

Video Tutorial:

close-up detail

The close-up image above shows the cutting detail of the SVG file, the color insert, and the beautiful texture of the Royal Sundance card stock. It also shows how well the cardstock cuts the delicate centers of the petals.

Making a set of these notecards would make for a nice gift. As an option, you could insert a different color into each one of the notecards for a rainbow set of cards.

The SVG file for the Notecard is available at: [Floral Notecard]

If you would like to make a notepad with the same design, there is an SVG file for that as well. You can find it at: [Floral Notepad]

Ways to Stamp Texture

Learn fun stamping techniques with Fairy Stamper stamps.

with Fairy Stamper

I enjoy creating my own textured papers using a variety of different techniques. For my Fairy Stampers Video Design post this month, I used a bulrushes stamp in different ways to create the background paper for my card. Another Fairy Stampers stamp was used for the sentiment. This was a fun card to make.

stamping materials
s

The card came together in a two-step process. The first was creating the background, and the second was creating the sentiment strip.

stamping sentiment

After embossing the cardstock, the sentiment was stamped on top. Since the embossed cardstock has texture, the stamp needed to be applied more than once.

Once the parts of the card were made, it was time to put it all together. A tape runner and foam tape were used.

card close-up

Here is a close-up shot of the card so you can see the texture and misting spray as well as the raised sentiment. You can really see how the colors work together in this image.

Designing a Leaf Letterhead

The Leaf Letterhead SVG file can be used in a variety of different ways.

with CutCardStock

decor piece

This leaf letterhead svg file is very versatile. I’ve created a finished decor piece with it to show you how it could be used. The design was created to be used in a variety of different ways like a letter, menu, invitation, announcement, and any other way you can imagine. You don’t have to put another piece behind the design, or on top of it as shown. It is just one option for this file.

The Royal Sundance Card Stock in Brilliant White is the star of this post and the card stock that was cut. It’s joined with Stardream Metallic Gold and Glama Card Stock in Kraft. The poem was printed using my Cricut Maker and the Kraft card stock but it could also be printed on a printer.

Cricut Maker

Use a personal cutting machine that works with an SVG file. I am using a Cricut Maker for cutting and writing. Because the design is 8.5″ x 11″, and the card stock is the same size, you have to pay attention to the alignment on your mat. The Kraft card stock was written on and cut on the Cricut Maker too. I used a 0.4 black Cricut pen for the writing.
