Bunny Treat Box and SVG

Make a bunny treat box for Easter with this free SVG file.

With Easter right around the corner, why not make this cute bunny box. What a cute way to give a treat. Both young and old will get a kick out of it. You can make them in different sizes and colors. Personalize them and they make a great place setting name tag.

I used Stardream Metallic Card Stock in Crystal for the box and Astrobright in Pulsar Pink for the ears and nose. CutCardStock’s Stardream line is one of my favorite card stocks with a bit of metallic, it has a great look.

I cut the SVG file out on a Cricut Maker. Placing two different pieces of card stock on the mat, I adjusted the file in Design Space. This made it easier to cut once instead of twice.

As a reminder when cutting, set the red lines to score and load your scoring tool before setting the file to cut. The materials are minimal for this project making it so easy to make. It would be fun to get the kids involved.

I cut the whisker with scissors from a scrap of black and chose to draw in the eyes instead of cutting them out.

This view shows the size of the box that can be made from an 8.5 x 11″ sheet of card stock. Just the perfect size for a treat or a group of jelly beans!

DIY a Gift Bag

Learn how to diy a gift bag from wrapping paper.

Have you ever made your own gift bag? It really isn’t difficult. I made this one from wrapping paper. It was actually so easy that I am not sure I will buy gift bags again. I can make them in whatever size I need. The cost savings is another advantage.

The materials needed are very limited. You will need a pair of scissors, double-sided tape, and of course wrapping paper. Depending upon how you embellish it, you will want those materials as well. I used a paper punch and twine. On another version, I folded over the top and used a sticker – so easy.

Follow the easy video tutorial above to make your own gift bag. You can make them as you need or prepare a bunch ahead of time for when you need them. A fun idea would be to choose a certain paper pattern per person for a holiday like Christmas. No name tags would be needed, just let them know their pattern on the special day.

Mini Rainbow Banner

Making a mini ribbon rainbow banner with Gwen Studios.

This month for the Gwen Studios design team, we are making projects that are for St. Patrick’s Day, using Green, White, and Rainbow Colored ribbons. I chose to go with the rainbow idea and make a mini banner using the colors of the rainbow. Have you heard of ROYGBIV? This is how my daughters learned the colors of the rainbow, R = red, O = orange, Y = yellow, G = green, B = blue, I = indigo, and V = violet (purple).

The ribbons I used are solid grosgrain ribbons and are available in a pack of 12 bright colors, 3/8″ x 36 Yards by Gwen Studios available at Walmart.

I used washi tape a few times in making the banner. Make sure to watch the video to see the tips for using washi tape, it was so helpful.

There are two different ways to seal the ends of ribbons. You can burn them as shown above with a lighter, or use a product called fray check. I used both in this project to show you the differences.

I used a variety of different tools to make the banner. The items I found helpful were scissors, a nail file, a craft knife, a cutting mat, and a white ink pen.

The ribbons are glued on top of craft foam. The foam is wrapped around a dowel rod and glued in place using Fabri-Tac. I found sewing clips were a big help in holding the foam in place as the glue dried.

Card Making

Follow along the creative process for making a card, staring without a plan.

I began making this card without a plan. I take you through the entire creative process from start to finish using minimal materials. The process begins with ink smooching to make a background for the card. And from there, choose colors that coordinate.

For the sentiment, I used a word from the Word Art file located in the store. You can access that file here: https://tryit-likeit.com/product/word-art/

The sentiment is raised using foam tape and the bloom is tucked into the top. You also get a sense of the glitter splats from the Unicorn Spit paint.

The image above shows the finished card and a peek to the inside. I like to take elements from the front of the card and carry them into the inside. You can also see the slight 3D effect of the bloom on the front of the card.

Origami Ornament

Make a Christmas ornament using origami paper.

There are many creative ways to make ornaments. You can use paint, alcohol ink, or fabric. Why not use origami paper? I cut mine into squares but tearing the paper would also make a beautiful ornament. I am working with papers from Yatsutomo. The ornament is plastic but this technique will also work on glass.

Materials:

mod podge
Origami paper
paper trimmer
scissor
ribbon
foam paintbrush
Scotch tacky glue

The iridescent paper didn’t want to stay put. I found overlapping it with the other patterned papers helped to hold it in place. After covering the ornament with origami paper, I used a color-coordinating ribbon to finish off the look.

Making a Magical Fairy Wand

Make a magical fairy wand with materials from Gwen Studios.

This fairy wand was so fun to make, I love the color combination. I’ve never curled this kind of ribbon and it was fun watching it go from straight to curly after heating. I am sure your little girls would love to have one to play with.

The ribbons in the photo above are wrapped around 1/4″ dowel rods. The bottom one is glued in place while the others were placed in the oven at 250 degrees for 20 minutes to curl them.

DIY Christmas Tree Earrings

Die cut a pair of Christmas tree earrings using shrink plastic three different ways.

Fun for the holidays, fun for gift-giving, make a pair of Christmas tree earrings with a die from Scrapbook.com, and shrink film. I’ve shown three different designs all made from the same die. The green earrings are using alcohol ink, the rose gold earrings used a stamp pad, and the silver and black pair were stamped with a rubber stamp.

To make the earrings I used the smallest die from the Nested Tree Dies and shrink film from Grafix. I used white and silver shrink film.

Materials:

Video Tutorial:

As the film shrinks, the colors become more intense. While there was a pattern on the rose gold trees, it is all but gone once shrunk. However, they did take on a more metallic sheen almost like glitter. Do you have a favorite pair?

How to Make a Fairy Door Card

The moment I saw the Fairy Door stamp, I knew the door needed to open. I chose to stamp on papers I had made with my Gelli plate. I enhanced those pieces and did a bit of fussy cutting. You can see the entire process in the video tutorial towards the bottom of this post.

The above image shows the Fairy Door stamp on a Gelli plate print after being fussy cut. The Gelli plate print dictates the colors that get used for the rest of the process.

After a bunch of different steps, the four pieces that make up the card are ready to be put together. In the end, I chose to color on top of the Fairy Door stamp but that could be easily done before the card is put together. I used enough foam tape that I was easily able to color on it after assembly.

Making a Gift Tag

Making a gift tag inspired by ephemera.

Sometimes the materials suggest the project. This is the case with my gift tag made with pieces of ephemera. I loved the little girl knitting and it seemed like the perfect idea to make a gift tag to go with a special handmade knitted gift. The little girl image also set the color theme. I only wish she were crocheting because I do that more often than knitting.

Materials:

To begin, I chose to distress the edges of the colored card stock pieces. I cut the mint cardstock tag first, then the mustard tag a bit larger on all four sides. The mustard rectangle was a leftover piece from cutting the tag. Notice the hole isn’t punched yet in the mustard tag so I can align it correctly with the mint piece. These pieces were cut on the Works Board using the guide for making tags.

Here are all the individual parts ready to put together with The Best Glue Ever. You can watch how it was done in the following video tutorial. While the ribbon bow coordinates well, I couldn’t find the right spot to place it on the tag.

DIY Filled Ornament Gift

Make your own diy filled ornament that is great for gift giving.

This Christmas Tree ribbon is amazing, I have never seen anything like it. Gwen Studios has a variety of different patterns of die-cut ribbon available. It is cut really well but because of the small pieces, you may need to remove some from the design to gain the full effect.

Check out the display of Gwen Studios die-cut ribbons at Walmart. There are trees, snowflakes, gingerbread men, ornaments, deer, and more.

I ran both the tree and red ribbon through a Zyron sticker maker and stacked them together before I wrapped my ornament with them. Now I am adding the double bow and Christmas medallion to the ornament with a bit of Fabri-Tac glue.

Don’t forget to fill the ornament and attach the gift tag that coordinates. I filled mine with candies but bath salts or hot cocoa would be nice as well. Just personalize the filling to your recipient.
