final card

This lovely card was made using Transfer Me sheets from Dress My Craft. They are so fun to work with and the process is a bit addictive. With over 300 different designs you are sure to find one to suit your needs.

transfer sheet

This is one of the transfer sheets I used to make my greeting card.

card parts

After working with the transfer sheets, I coordinated colored cardstock and a butterfly I had in my stash. Using a stamp that says “Just A Note” made the card so useful for a variety of different occasions. Tape runner and foam tape helped put it easily altogether.

If you are interested in the 3D butterfly, you can find the tutorial and free printable here [3D butterflies]

Making a Card from Trash

Learn how to create texture while using packing paper. #cardmaking #crafttutorial

card

There are many materials around you that can be used for crafting. I recently bought a glass item that came wrapped in brown packing paper. Before throwing it away, I thought I could use it for crafting. I used a stamp pad to enhance the wrinkles for a textural background.

parts

After inking the paper, I coordinated cardstock, a colored envelope, and a sentiment I had in my stash that was made with washi tape.

If you would like to learn how to make the washi tape words, that tutorial can be found here: [washi words]

Cardmaking from Calendar

Repurpose your colored calendar into a card and share your work with others. #card #reuse #coloring

finished card

This year’s free calendar from Try it – Like it – Create it is an adult coloring calendar. Once the month has passed, please don’t throw away your creation, turn it into a card!

If you haven’t downloaded the free calendar yet, you can do so at the following link. [2023 calendar]

parts of card

The materials are straightforward, you’ll need a slimline card base, your colored image, a way to cut down the calendar, and some adhesive.

card with paing

I couldn’t just leave the image as it was, I chose to add some shimmering watercolor paint to a few areas. I bought the watercolors from Temu – they are fantastic metallic-based watercolors available at a great price.

Video Tutorial:

Making the card is pretty straightforward forward but I’ve added a simple way to make a matching envelope with no measurements needed.

close up of shimmer

The dark green petals around the center have the shimmer added. I love how this project is a kind of recycling project where you can get more mobility from your colored image. What a nice way to share your work with someone special!

Making a Colorful Card

Create a colorful card for Valentine’s Day or another special occasion with card stock from CutCardStock. #affiliate #cardmaking

finished card

Making this HUGS card with Valentine’s day in mind, it can actually be used year-round. I intend to use it for a friend that is recovering from surgery. The finished card is 4″ x 6″.

paper

The card stock used for the card base is Basis in neutral. I am working with a pre-cut and folded card. CutCardStock has a ton of different colors of Basis to choose from. The colorful card stock comes from an assortment pack of Pop-Tones.

cricut maker

I used my Cricut Maker to cut the letters. Strategically aligning the colors, I was able to cut all the letters in one pass. I like to have a bit of additional security by using washi tape to hold the pieces in place when cutting.

cut letters on mat

The hollow letters actually leave behind another thin letter that can be used for another project.

With a bit of glue and attention to alignment, the card was easy to finish.

Thanksgiving Day Card

Let’s make a fun Thanksgiving Day card. #affiliate @cutcardstock @DCC @gwenstudios

final turkey card

Combining card stock and ribbon makes a fun and wonky turkey card for Thanksgiving. Do you know someone who would enjoy this card? It is really fun to make. Changing the placement of the different elements will adjust the final look making it uniquely yours. The turkey could also make a fun framed piece or kid’s craft.

This card was made as a part of the CutCardStock and Gwen Studios design team. You can find many more Gwen Studio creations at the Designer Craft Connection site.

basis folded card

The colors I chose to work with are all from the Basis line and they are weighted at 80# cover and come in a variety of different colors. The folded card is also Basis and comes in different sizes: 4″ x 6″, A2, A1, A6, 5″ x 7″, and table tent. Cutting this file on a Cricut Maker, I set it to cut 100# cardstock.

materials

All the pieces are cut and ready to assemble. The Gwen Studios grosgrain ribbon was cut to 4″ in length. You can find Gwen Studios products at Walmart and Michaels.

Make a Wreath Card

Make a wreath card in a variety of different ways with this one free SVG file.

with CutCardStock

wreath card

Cutcardstock’s featured theme this month is white and ivory. This month I created an SVG file that is more of a kit than one item. The file has a variety of different flora pieces that can be put together in a variety of different ways. You can use the card without any of the additional elements added. I chose to color the flower and leaves for the card I made.

basic white
Basic White card stock

The soft white color, matte vellum finish, and medium weight of this Basic White card stock cuts really well in electronic cutting machines.

cricut maker

I used a Cricut Maker with a 100lb card stock setting and a pressure setting of more. I wanted to make sure the small detailed pieces were cut thoroughly.

There are multiple pieces in the file. The card has a cut-away circle with a woven center. The flora pieces can be added in a variety of different arrangements, or not at all, making this file very flexible for crafting.

Here are the pieces I chose to work with from the file. Using Distress Oxide ink, I blended the ink onto the cut pieces with a brush.

This close-up shows the detail and the dimension of the card.
You also get a nice look at the yellow gem in the flower’s center.

Video Tutorial:

I really like how the light is showing through the woven circle. It would also look nice with a colored inset inside.

Inked Wrinkle Technique

Don’t throw away your waste paper before trying this inked wrinkle technique.

final card

The other day I was working on a sublimation project and I was discarding my protective paper. I hated the idea of throwing away paper and came up with this idea for its use. Using the scrap paper, I Inked it to make an interesting texture. I happened to use Protective Paper from Artesprix. It has a vellum or parchment paper look to it.

The links provided are for your use and may contain affiliate links.
They cost nothing for you to use.
Thank you in advance for supporting this site with its use.

materials

The idea here is to use waste paper. The protective paper I had couldn’t be used again for sublimation because it had some ghosting of the sublimation ink on it which might transfer if used again. I started with a black ink pad and then continued with different colors of ink.

This is the inked wrinkles after I added a few different colors of ink. After finding this successful, I did it again with sublimation ink pads and I will have a tutorial on that outcome posted soon.

Video Tutorial:

close-up of card

I ended up making a card with the wrinkled paper. I think it could be used in a variety of different ways. No more wasted paper for me. I will be keeping a stash of these wrinkled ink papers for crafting. Did you find this useful? Let me know in the comments.

How to Make a Textured Card

How to make a layered and textured card with DIY texture paste.

final enjoy card

The other day I shared about making your own texture paste. What I didn’t share was what to do next, so here is one example of its use. The background leaves are all made with my homemade texture paste.

The links provided are for your use and may contain affiliate links.
They cost nothing for you to use.
Thank you in advance for supporting this site with its use.

card parts

This card has a few layers and textures. The card base is layered with a beautiful metallic Kunzite cardstock from CutCardStock. The next layer is the leaves made with DIY texture paste. Because of the slight depth from the texture paste, I thought the sentiment would need to be elevated from the front of the card.

layering word

The word enjoy was cut from white cardstock three times and once from Rinea foiled paper. I then layered them all together to give the word additional height. If you are interested in Rinea foiled paper use my discount code of “TRYIT” for 10% off your order.

Video Tutorial:

closeup

Finally, a close-up of the card front so you can see the layers and depth of all the parts used. If you look closely, you can see I used a gem to dot the j instead of the layered cardstock, adding one additional texture to the card.
