This week’s tag was inspired by a Recollections product that I spotted on sale at Michael’s. What began as a simple project quickly grew into something more as I kept adding little touches to enhance it. The result is a shaker tag that I’m really happy with—it’s fun, dimensional, and full of holiday spirit.
The best part? With just a ribbon or hook, this design can easily double as a Christmas ornament. It’s a versatile piece you can use to decorate packages, hang on your tree, or share as a handmade gift. Sometimes the most spontaneous crafting sessions lead to the most creative results!

I grabbed a whole bunch of materials to work with—probably too many shaker bits for one project! 😅 But that’s part of the fun, right? As I mentioned earlier, I couldn’t resist adding more details as the project came together. The suggested materials are listed at the bottom of this post.

I started by painting the outer ring and then realized—a bit too late—that the inside edge really needed some color too. Since it was already glued in place, I had to carefully go back in with a small brush to paint it. My tip: paint the inside edge before gluing to save yourself the extra effort!
And because I was already in paint mode, I decided to go ahead and paint the back as well. It gives the tag a more finished look and makes it beautiful from every angle.

To finish things off, I added a thin strip of glitter vinyl around the edge to hide the layered seams and give the project a polished sparkle. For the hanger, I used a grosgrain ribbon from Gwen Studios, which not only adds durability but also gives the tag a charming, textured look. It’s the perfect combination of shine and structure!
