One Design – Two Ways

When best-laid plans don’t go according to plan – you adjust! I am using one design in two different ways. One as a stencil, and the other as an overlay cut out. My stencil got partially ruined so I saved what I could and moved forward adjusting my idea and making two cards.

I created this free SVG file to share with you as a part of the CutCardStock design team. I am using it as a stencil and an overlay for two different cards. The link to the design is at the bottom of this post.

I cut the design on my Cricut Maker. Once out of overhead projection film for the stencil, and then cardstock for the overlay piece.

The card base is from the Basis line and is weighted at 80# cover. Basis comes in a variety of different colors and different sizes: 4″ x 6″, A2, A1, A6, 5″ x 7″, and table tent.

Using Distress Oxide to ink blend through a stencil and as a background. It actually ends up looking very similar even though the process is different.

Each card gets the same sentiment but again in two different applications. The large card will get a lifted-up piece and the small card will be stamped on directly.

The two finished cards are side by side. They do look very similar even though the techniques were different. Do you prefer one to the other? Let me know in the comments below.
