Making Gold Wall Art

With CutCardStock

Today I have a post on the CutCardStock blog for the above gold decor piece. I am using an SVG file to create the 3-dimensional room decor piece. The circular design and the gold paper give it a simple modern look. It is really easy to create using the free SVG file and your personal cutting machine. The materials needed are minimal and the project comes together quickly. You can change the look by easily changing the color of the cardstock to fit your decor.

I am using Stardream in Metallic Gold and Royal Sundance Brilliant White for the backing.

  • Cutting Machine – Cricut Maker
  • Gold Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • corner rounder – optional
  • picture frame
  • tape runner
Cricut Maker

I cut the SVG file on my Cricut Maker. Any personal cutting machine that works with an SVG can be used. I cut the Gold Cardstock on a setting of 100# cardstock with more pressure and cut it twice. I tape the cardstock to my mat with washi tape as an extra precaution since my mat isn’t extremely sticky.

After cutting the free SVG file, You will remove the circle shapes and then lift all the tab or V-shaped cuts. For a slightly different look, you can gently roll these lifted pieces in towards the center.

You can follow the video tutorial post on the CutCardStock blog for step-by-step instructions.

The above close-up image shows the detail and dimension of the lifted pieces. I like how the metallic gold paper shimmers in the light and the dimension casts different shadows throughout the day.
