with etchall creme
I framed my ribbon tree artwork and decided to add a special touch by etching the glass with etchall creme. Since framing the piece took a few tries to get just right, I didn’t want to disassemble it all over again to etch the glass. Instead, I carefully etched the front of the glass with everything still in place. The result was worth it—the etched design adds a beautiful, frosted effect that perfectly complements the framed art!
I cut the words “Merry Christmas” on my Cricut Maker and weeded out the letters. Then I placed it on the glass.
After applying the etchall creme to the design, I let it sit for 15 minutes to work its magic. When the time was up, I carefully scraped the creme back into the jar, since etchall creme is reusable—such a great feature for future projects! Next, I cleaned the glass to remove any residue. Without a sink in my studio, I relied on baby wipes, which worked perfectly for the task. Once the glass was clean, I peeled off the vinyl to reveal the finished etched design. The result was a beautifully frosted, custom piece that added the perfect touch to my framed ribbon tree!
With the glass etching on the surface, I discovered an unexpected but delightful effect—it creates a soft shadow on the artwork below. This subtle interplay of light and texture adds an extra dimension to the piece, making it even more enchanting. The shadow shifts slightly depending on the lighting, giving the artwork a dynamic quality that feels alive and unique. It was such a happy surprise and truly elevated the finished project!
