Where to find Summer Reading Programs for Kids

Your Public Library isn’t the only place to find Summer Reading Programs. There are many other places that also offer Summer Reading Programs with some fun incentives to keep your kids reading throughout the summer.

 

Barnes and Noble

For grades 1-6, read any eight books and record them in B&N’s Summer Reading Journal (free to download) and receive a free book. While you are at it, Join B&Ns free Kids’ Club for more rewards.

 

Books-A-Million

Read any 4 books from their Summer Reading Adventure and receive a free pencil case with pencils.

 

Chuck E. Cheese

More than just for reading, it includes all kinds of rewards. Based on a calendar that you print out and set goals. Once complete turn it in for rewards tokens. This program runs year round.

 

Half Price Books

Half Price Books Summer Reading Program is called Feed Your Brain.

There is a program for 14 and under as well as teens. Their site contains a few different printable you can use for tracking the requirements throughout the months of June and July and earn Bookwork Bucks.

 

Lifeway

Read 6 books and memorize 6 verses to receive a free book and a free bible.

 

PBS

Scroll down to Everyday Learning for a variety of free printable and create your own Reading Program.

 

Pizza Hut

Book It! is Pizza Hut’s reading program through the schools. Homeschooling moms can register online as well. Kids will earn a personal size pizza.

 

Public Library

The only Summer Reading Program I knew about for years was through our local library. Our library promotes their Summer Reading Program throughout our school system. Check your local library to see what they offer for children, teens, and adults!

 

Scholastic

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a Harry Potter themed program. Registration happens through a teacher, librarian, or community leader.

 

Sync

SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+.
