Creating a window in your paper craft project can be a very simple task when you use the right materials. For this pressed flower arrangement, I used clear packing tape to form the window and to securely hold the flowers in place. It’s an easy and affordable option that creates a clean, transparent finish while keeping delicate elements protected.

This close-up shows the window with light shining through, highlighting the delicate beauty of the pressed flowers. The flowers I used were collected by my mother many years ago, which makes this project especially meaningful. I love being able to give new life to something she cherished by incorporating it into a fresh, creative design.

Ink Debossing Technique

How to enhance your debossing with ink.

This inking technique gives endless creative results depending on the colors of ink and the embossing folder you choose. It’s a versatile method that can be used for card making, journaling, scrapbooking, and a wide variety of other paper crafting projects.

This process is all about the ink colors and the embossing folder you choose. The technique works especially well when using an embossing folder with a tightly placed, detailed design. The closer the elements are, the more the ink highlights the raised areas, creating strong contrast and beautiful texture.

To finish off the tag, I added a color-coordinating ribbon from Gwen Studios and added a simple sticker sentiment at the bottom that reads “Best Wishes.”

Are These Ink Pads the Same?

How similar are Lisa Horton Cloud 9 ink pads to Distress Oxides?

I’ve been on a bit of a Lisa Horton product kick lately! After picking up her interference ink pads, I couldn’t resist trying the Cloud 9 series in matte ink as well. From what I’ve read, these ink pads seem to work similarly to Distress Oxide, which piqued my curiosity. So, I decided to put them to the test with a side-by-side comparison to see how they perform, and overall effect. Here are my thoughts on how they stack up!

I grabbed comparable ink colors from my collection in three different shades to do a proper comparison. This way, I could see how Lisa Horton’s Cloud 9 Matte Ink stacks up against Distress Oxide in terms of overall performance. I tested them side by side and how they react with water.

What I found is that both ink pads react similarly, making them great for blending and layering. However, the Distress Oxide pad seems to be a bit more saturated with ink, while the Cloud 9 ink pads are noticeably larger. When it comes to price, Cloud 9 costs about $1 more than Distress Oxide, so the value may come down to personal preference—whether you prefer a more ink-saturated pad or a larger surface area for application. Overall, both are solid choices, but these small differences might influence which one works best for different crafting needs!

My go-to printer brand for years has been HP. I also use their ink supply service where I pay a monthly fee and they send me ink cartridges as needed. It comes out to be a lot less money this way. The HP Envy Inspire is a great-priced machine that will produce beautiful prints.

If you are looking for a great crafting-weight paper for printables, I have been using HP Project Paper. It is heavier than copier paper but not quite as heavy as cardstock. It is a great medium weight for layering, folding, and more!
