Easter Bunny Treat Box

Make a bunny treat box for Easter. Includes a free template or SVG file.

I created this cute Easter Bunny Treat Box to cut out as an SVG file. Then I thought, maybe I should do a post about how it could be used. But then, some people don’t have a personal cutting machine that could use the file. So there is also a link to a printable file that you can cut out by hand. Whichever template you use, I am sure you will find creative ways to use it. But just in case, here are a few ideas to get you started.

How about a napkin holder for your tablescape?

Add some Easter basket grass and place your decorated or filled eggs.

Of course, you can decorate it as you wish.

It could also be used as a candle holder.
Unlike the image, I would recommend a battery-operated candle or a tea lite in a glass holder.

Making a Card with Mica Powder

Make a mini mica card using up materials you have on hand.

I like making cards that are alternative sizes. This is a good technique for using up scraps and materials you already have on hand. I am using a lot of materials to make this simple card but you don’t have to have them all to make a similar card. Follow along with the video tutorial to see how this simple card is done.

Materials:

  • cardstock
  • stamp
  • stamp block
  • Versamark ink pad
  • Mica power
  • Label maker
  • alcohol ink marker
  • Washi chomper
  • Glue Dots

Here is a close-up of the finished mini card. The mica powder really shines in person. I like how the colors are enhanced by the black cardstock.

Let me know what you make cards in a variety of different sizes. I think mini or small are my favorite.

How to Transform a Dollar Store Frame

See how to transform an inexpensive picture frame from drab to fab with a patina kit. #dollartreecraft

With a picture frame from the Dollar Tree and a patina kit from Modern Masters (affiliate link), I transformed this simple frame from drab to fab. It takes a little bit of dry time between the steps but other than that, it is a really easy process. The kit has most of what you will need.

The patina kit comes with primer paint, copper paint, and the patina spray and nozzle. Simple directions are on the box. Handled the patina spray with caution, see the warning on the bottle and use in a well-ventilated area.

Additional Materials:

  • nail file or sandpaper
  • picture frame
  • foam paintbrush
  • spray box or similar
  • rubber gloves (optional)

Video Tutorial:

Watching the patina transform the frame as it dried was really interesting because you really don’t know what results you will get until it dries. The process was really fun and I can’t wait to try it on other surfaces. What would you use this kit on?

Layered Artwork with Denise Boddey

Today I am posting as a part of the Denise Boddey Design Team. I am working with cut chipboard and a card topper. Painting and layering the elements make for a beautiful work of art. Framing mine, I used a frame from the dollar store that I did a patina finish on to coordinate the colors.

Materials:

  • Card topper (In my Garden Patch)
  • Chipboard (Arch Window)

  • Americana Chalk Finish (lace)

I originally thought I was going to make a card, but as the pieces came together I knew it would work better as a framed piece of artwork. I am really pleased with the end results. What do you think is best, as a card or framed art?

How to Blend Ink

How to blend ink on a stamp.

I was recently asked to make a layered stamped card. Using a blended ink technique for the sentiment, I thought I would share my process here for how to blend the ink and then stamp it. I really like the subtle blend and it worked well as a background for my stamped sentiment. I am sure to use more ink blending in the future, how about you?

Materials:

  • stamping block
  • large flat stamp
  • water spray bottle
  • cotton swab
  • ink pads (I used 5)
  • card stock

You don’t have to spritz with water but I think it helped with the ink blending. And the cotton swab technique is a lifesaver, I am so glad I stumbled upon that technique!

Finally, I cut out a square shape from my stamped image and used it on the card at the top of the post.
