Gift Card Box with Makers Movement

Making a gift box for use with a gift card with the Makers Movement. #sponsored @jointhemakersmovement

I am making a gift card box with a die from the Makers Movement. It is part of the Donut Box set. The donut box die has a coordinating stamp set making them so useful. No longer will you need to buy packaging for a gift card. You can make your own gift box and stylize it for the occasion.

The Donut Box die and stamps work together so well and can be used in a variety of different ways. Aren’t those donut stamps cute? They have coordinating dies to cut them out!

I planned on using the Special Delivery stamp as a surprise under the gift card inside the box but I totally forgot about it until after I was finished with the gift card box! – Oh well, next time.

CrossOver II from the Makers Movement was used with the Donut Box dies to cut the card stock. Be sure to check out the tip in the video tutorial below, I am not sure the die is meant to be used this way, but it worked for me. (notice the washi tape)

Tres Jolie Kit :: ATC Journal

Making a steampunk ATC Journal using the Cards, Tags and More kit from Tres Jolie’s June Kit. #sponsored #guestdesigner

This month I am a guest designer at Tres Jolie Kits. I was sent the June Cards, Tags, and More kit. I decided to alter the ATC journal and incorporate chipboard gears on the cover. The process used layering and I will take you through it step by step.

I actually started on the inside of the journal. Using watered-down Nori paste and patterned tissue paper cut to size, I lined both the front and back inside cover. The tissue paper was found at the Dollar Tree.

Using the same technique as above, I covered the entire outside of the journal with torn collage pieces of green and tan tissue paper. The Nori paste was used under and over the tissue paper on the cover.

I incorporated the chip board gears into the tissue paper layer using the Nori paste to glue the gears in place as well as placing some tissue paper over parts of the gears. 

Then I did a brown metallic paint wash (watered down paint) over the entire cover, then let it dry over night. This technique enhanced the torn edges of the tissue paper as well as the wrinkles.

To finish off the look, I used a stencil and ink brush bending technique with Distress Oxide ink pads in random areas of the cover.

Here is a close-up image of all the actual and visual texture on the cover. My journal is now ready to put ATCs inside!

Making a Floral Friend Card and SVG

Tres Jolie Monthly Kit :: Wreath

I am a guest designer with Tres Jolie craft kits this month. June is their anniversary month. #sponsored

This month I am a guest designer at Tres Jolie Kits. I was sent the Cards, Tags, and More kit. For my first project of the month, I chose the Prima Marketing flowers from the kit to make this neutral wreath.

The rest of the materials I used came from the Dollar Tree. The wreath, hot glue sticks, and ribbon are all Dollar Tree finds that I had on hand.

Once I decided on the floral composition, it was really quick and easy to hot glue everything to the wreath. In the end, I only used three flowers instead of four.

I trimmed the ribbon that was hanging down from the bow and decided to use the discarded pieces for another bow to be saved for another project!

Bug-Off Roll-On Recipe

Just in time for the warmer weather and unfortunately bug season, I am making a Bug Off recipe from Simply Earth. This recipe is quick and easy to make. I like that you apply the oil to your pulse points instead of spraying your entire body with nasty smelling bug spray. I am a big fan of the Lemongrass scent. Citronella is a calming scent and will lighten your mood along with deterring the bugs.

Cutting ATCs

I have a post over on the CutCardStock blog about ATCs. ATCs are Artist Trading Cards. I designed a few different styles with cutouts and words to add a bit of variety to your cards.

I used a Cricut Maker to cut the cards. As you can see, I actually cut all my designs at once using 3″ x 5″ basic card stock from CutCardStock.

Working with Artesprix Sublimation Products

Unboxing Artesprix product for a future post and a quick bookmark tutorial. #sponsored @artesprix #affiliate

I was invited to be a guest design team member with Artesprix. Today I am sharing an unboxing of the materials they sent and a quick tutorial. I will be sharing a post on the Artesprix blog later this summer creating a tag project.

Artesprix makes sublimation markers and blanks. Blanks are specially treated products that accept the sublimation ink. Think of how fun it would be to personalize different products for gift giving. What a fun way to memorialize a child’s artwork or a special occasion.

A while back, I attended a trade show where I was given a sample project from Artesprix, a sublimation marker, and a bookmark. I will be using that today in this post. I think this bookmark project would be a really fun activity for a book club to create.

One of the best things I found about working with Artesprix is that you create on regular copy paper. Once you like what you have created, you transfer that image to the blank/product. This allows you to perfect your drawing before committing it to a finished product.

This bookmark project was quick and easy. Although not perfect due to some movement (user error) that caused shadowing of the image, I am really happy with the end result and I actually like the shadowing effect. I wish it was over the entire bookmark instead of just the bottom half. And of course, pink is a really nice color!
