Three Quick and Easy Things to Make with the Cricut Joy

Three fun projects made with the Cricut Joy.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut for Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was so excited to open the Cricut Joy. I have the Cricut Maker and I have used other Cricut machines as well. I like the ability to cut long pieces of continuous material but I am most excited about the Card Mat and Insert Cards. I also like the portability of the Cricut Joy. While the Cricut Joy is small, it is a mighty machine capable of cutting vinyl, a variety of papers, and cardstock as well as draw with pens.

Any supplies used may be given to me free of charge, however, all projects and opinions are my own.

First I want to share with you the unboxing of the Cricut Joy.

The following three projects were quick and easy to make with the Cricut Joy. Each project uses different materials with the Cricut Joy. I was able to test
out the flexibility and range of materials. The first project I made with the Cricut Joy was an insert card.

I made the above birthday card for my husband’s birthday. I needed something to give him and since we are sheltering at home, I wasn’t able to go out and get him anything, so I made him a card. I used the Cricut Insert Card design and was able to make a quick and easy card. You can see the entire tutorial at the following link. [Birthday Card]

The second project I made with the Cricut Joy used Smart Iron-on. I made a cat shirt for my daughter. We recently adopted two kittens, and I thought what an appropriate shirt! I altered an image from Design Space and quickly made this shirt. I didn’t even need to use a mat. I just loaded the smart iron-on vinyl directly into the Joy. This would be a really easy way to make a last-minute gift. See the entire tutorial at the following link. [Cat Shirt]

The third project I made with the Cricut Joy utilized its ability to draw. The Cricut Joy comes with a black pen which I used. I also received Smart Label materials so I decided to make labels for a craft tower I had. I still have more labels to make because I haven’t settled on all the drawers’ contents but it will be easy to do that because I saved the file I made in Design Space. The program walked me through the steps of loading the pen for drawing and then the blade for cutting. Using Smart Label materials I didn’t need to cut it down to size or use a mat. I just loaded the materials into the Cricut Joy and hit go! You can see the entire tutorial and access the label file I created here: [Labels]

I can’t wait to use the continuous cut with vinyl and make a growth chart for my girls. Right now we have the marks on a wall next to our kitchen. I would like to make the charts so they can take them with them when they get older and move on. I have the wood on order but it hasn’t arrived in time for this post. So be sure to look for that tutorial in the future.

Have You Wondered About the Comfy?

This wearable blanket pullover keeps you warm & cozy while you lounge at home, watch TV, play video games, work on your laptop, camp, attend a sporting event or concert, & more! Right now, spending time at home a little extra comfort can really be helpful. My daughters love the Comfy for watching TV. It is like a little soft cacoon. And when you are cold, it is really helpful.

This is how the Comfy package arrived at our house. I want to thank Comfy for sending me one to review and fall in love with! We received the navy original Comfy but it is also available in a lite version that is made out of microfiber fabric without the white fluffy sherpa.

The Comfy is known for being on Shark Tank.

You can buy yours here: [Comfy]

Cool Coffee Experiences That Everyone Needs to Try

Coffee is one of life’s little luxuries. That tempting aroma when it’s freshly brewed, the caffeine boost it gives and the fact that it makes any afternoon cake indulgence somehow taste even better. Even right now when the world is battling through the current health pandemic and many ingredients are hard to get hold of, it’s still relatively easy to order coffee to your home or purchase it from the supermarket when you’re doing your grocery shop. Did you also know that you can freeze milk if you need it for your milkier drinks, or there’s the option of powdered milk and creamers for longer-lasting options? If you fancy doing something different and trying something new, here are some cool coffee experiences to consider.

Civet Coffee

It might sound strange, but civet coffee consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. The process of going through their intestines helps to ferment the beans and give it a truly unique flavor. If you’re going to try Civet coffee, just be sure to choose a cruelty-free brand, one that utilized wild civet cats rather than keeping them caged up. If you can get past the strangeness of this one it’s well worth a try- think about how honey is made essentially of bee vomit but none of us question that! It’s unusual, completely safe and an incredible coffee experience to try.

Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof coffee is made of brewed coffee, grass-fed unsalted butter, and good quality coconut oil. People often look into it for weight loss benefits, although unless you’re following a low carb, high-fat plan it will cause you to gain rather than lose weight for obvious reasons. However, if you’re following keto (or just want an interesting and unusual drink that you plan to have in moderation) then give this a go. It’s creamy and delicious, a bit like a latte but minus the sugar.

Vietnamese Egg Coffee

Eggs are full of protein and vitamins, so adding one to your daily pre-workout coffee can be a tasty way to fuel up. Consuming raw egg might sound like a food poisoning disaster waiting to happen but this isn’t the case if you use the right eggs. Anything with the Lion stamp on is safe to consume raw (such as in mayonnaise or eating uncooked cake batter!) lightly cooked (such as runny yolks) or any way you like. This is because eggs come from vaccinated hens meaning the risk of any diseases that can make you ill is almost completely eliminated.

Salt Coffee

Coffee has a fairly bitter taste, which is why many people reach for the sugar jar or sweet syrups to enjoy their brew. So it would seem as though salt would be the last thing you’d want to add- but you’d be wrong! It actually neutralizes the bitterness by blocking the taste buds responsible for it, but don’t add more than just a pinch. If you do it could become undrinkable.

My Cricut Joy is Here!

My Cricut Joy is finally here! It was a little hectic awaiting its arrival. I had a notice that it arrived about a week ago, but I didn’t have the packages. There were supposed to be three of them. I work with Cricut and have blog posts due using the Cricut Joy. I contacted FedEx and Cricut. The only news I got was that they were left at the front door. I know it is possible to have packages stolen. This was during the start of the Corona Virus lockdown and so not that many people were out. Our neighborhood isn’t that busy on a normal day. And finally, we have a half walled porch across the front of our house so no packages that are left, are visible from the street. So, where are my packages? Come to find out, my neighbor had them. She left a phone message for us that got overlooked and she hadn’t tried calling us again or bring the packages over. I am not sure why they got delivered to her house instead of ours. We were home and didn’t miss a knock or doorbell ring. So after a stress-filled week wondering where my Cricut Joy went, I FINALLY got the boxes.

unboxing finally!
