A Tabbed Valentine’s Day Card

with CutCardStock

For Valentine’s Day, I am making this tabbed card with CutCardStock. The card itself is versatile and can be used for many different types of card themes. The SVG file comes with hearts and circles but you could choose to embellish it however you would like.

I used three different card stocks for my project. The tabbed card is made from Royal Sundance Felt. Heart embellishments are made with layering Pop-Tone Razzleberry and Astrobright Pulsar Pink. This month CutCardStock is featuring their Astrobright card stock.

I cut all the card stock on a Cricut Maker at a setting of 100# card stock. You can see in the image above, I cut two colors of card stock at one time by spacing them on my mat. This is a simple trick that can save time. Before sending the file to cut, make sure to place the images on the screen so they will fit on the correct pieces of card stock.

The additional materials I used are pretty simple and may not be necessary for your cardmaking. I chose to blend with Distress Oxide ink on the heart and the card so that they would relate to each other and because I wanted to add a bit of depth to this simple card. I like the results and it really did pull the card together. Then I put it all together using a few different adhesives.

I chose to use a bit of foam tape to raise up the heart image with the word love from the base heart. Then I taped it to the short side of the tabbed card with double side tape. The other half of the heart overlaps the larger side of the card but does not adhere to it.

Here you can see the underneath side of the heart that overlaps the front of the card and the tab that is used to hold the card shut is hidden beneath it.
