My go to printer brand for years has been HP. I also use their ink supply service where I pay a monthly fee and they send me ink cartridges as needed. It comes out to be a lot less money this way. The HP Envy Inspire is a great-priced machine that will produce beautiful prints.

And if you are looking for a great crafting weight paper for printables, I have been using HP Project Paper. It is heavier than copier paper but not quite as heavy as cardstock. It is a great medium weight for layering, folding, and more!

Embossing Alcohol Ink

Wow! The results of the pearl alcohol ink on an embossed sheet of photo paper are absolutely stunning. While the colors didn’t travel or blend extensively, the way they broke down is so exciting and adds a vibrant look to the design!

I started by embossing a sheet of photo paper from the Dollar Tree, then applied Alcohol Pearls along with rubbing alcohol to create a vibrant design. For the areas where the ink didn’t fully cover, I blended the colors with my fingers, adding a personal touch to the finished piece!

When I trimmed the photo paper for the final tag, I noticed it was a bit fragile. To reinforce it, I backed it with a piece of color-coordinating cardstock. For the finishing touch, I added a sentiment cut from cardstock, tying the whole design together beautifully!

How To Make A Festive Ball Decor

Festive holiday ball decor.

Last holiday season, I saw a lot of discussion on wanting to know how to make these Ball Decorations. This is an old craft I learned from my mom when I was a young girl. I loved making them and we always had one hanging in our front hallway during Christmas season. This year, I found all the nessesary materials and I continued the tradition by teaching my daughters how to make them. And yes, they liked it too! So I will take you step by step through the process.

While we always made them for Christmas, this version could work for Christmas, New Year’s, and even Fourth of July!

materials

Materials:

Medical medicine cups
styrofoam ball
Glitter
White glue
A long needle
a flame
sequins – stars or snowflakes
Pearl head pins
Ribbon
Skewer

Directions:

Poke a skewer through the styrofoam ball, then use it to help thread the ribbon through the ball.
I used a 4″ styrofoam ball.
Set this aside.

Using a flame, heat the long needle and push it through the medicine cup bottoms in the center.
This step is actually really fun to do.

Set up glue and glitter for dipping. We used little tea set plates.

Dip each medicine cup’s top lip into the glue and then the glitter. Set each aside to dry.

You take a pin, thread a star sequin onto the pin, put the pin through the hole you made in the medicine cup,
and then push the entire thing into the styrofoam ball. Keep this up until the entire ball is covered.

Etching Holiday Decor

How to etch glass votives for the holidays.

These adorable tea lights feature the letters JOY etched onto them using etchall creme, adding a warm and festive touch to your holiday décor. Perfect for mantels, tablescapes, or cozy corners, they’re a charming way to brighten your seasonal celebrations!

These festive tea lights were created using budget-friendly items from Dollar Tree: glass votives, candles, and baker’s twine. With the help of etchall crème to etch the letters “JOY,” they came together quickly for a charming and affordable holiday décor project!

After cleaning the glass votives with rubbing alcohol, I applied the cut vinyl letters to each one. The vinyl was cut using a Cricut Maker, and each letter was framed in a square for easy alignment. This step ensured the design was perfectly positioned before etching!

Apply etchall crème generously onto the vinyl-covered votives, ensuring the exposed glass is fully coated. Allow the crème to sit for 15 minutes to complete the etching process. Once done, scrape the crème back into its container—it’s reusable! Wash the glass votives with soap and water, then remove and discard the vinyl to reveal your beautifully etched design.

To complete the candles, I applied a bit of buffing wax to the etched letters for a polished finish. Then, I wrapped baker’s twine around the top of each votive for a decorative touch and placed the candles inside.
