Colorful Words – Freebie Friday

My favorite printer brand for many years has been HP. I also use their ink supply service where I pay a monthly fee and they send me ink cartridges as needed. It comes out to be a lot less money this way. The HP Envy Inspire is a great-priced machine that will produce beautiful prints.

And if you are looking for a great crafting weight paper for printables, I have been using HP Project Paper. It is heavier than copier paper but not quite as heavy as cardstock. It is a great medium weight for layering, folding, and more!

Making a Thanks Card

with Penny Black

Keeping small thank-you cards in your stash are so useful. I made this one with products provided to me by Penny Black. I fell in love with the Stick and Shine sticker set, it was so so fun to work with.

In the above close-up image, you can see the detail of the ink blending. I enjoyed making the dragonfly images. The process is addictive!

Tag it Tuesday – Donations

This week’s tag is created with materials that were donated to me by DecoArt, TCW, and AALL & Create. I started with a painted piece of cardstock. The cardstock had paint that was left over from another project but I knew I wanted to use it. The colors were too pretty not to do something with them. So I cut the piece into a tag.

Using a stencil from Divinity Designs, I covered the tag with stencil butter from TCW. I knew I wanted a stencil that wouldn’t cover too much of the paint colors and this floral design worked well.

Making a Necklace Pendant with Etchall

I used etchall creme to etch these glass marbles for necklaces. I etched the backs of the marbles to create a filtered look for the colors. I knew the glass would magnify the image and I didn’t want a clear detail but rather a blended look.

First I cleaned the glass marbles with rubbing alcohol, then I applied the etchall creme to the backs of the glass marbles and let it sit for 15 minutes. When the time was up, I washed the marbles.

Here you can see the difference. The left marble is etched and the right marble is not.

The left two marbles have Lindy’s Magicals applied while the right marble has alcohol ink.

Once the color applications dried, I sprayed them with a sealer and then I added white paint to the back. Even with a sealer coating, the Magicals interacted with the white paint.

The results on the front of the glass marbles are seen in the image above. I like how the white paint shows through the two using the Magicals.

I created simple wire bails that are glued to the backs of the glass marbles.

Using faux leather, I cut it to cover the back and bail of each marble.

Here is the red version finished and hanging from a simple black cord necklace. It resembles a gemstone. The etchall creme helped to create visual depth and blending of the colors that were applied. Just moments after finishing, my daughter claimed this one for herself. Which version is your favorite?

Watercolor and Printables Tag

Tag it Tuesday

This week’s tag combines a small watercolor sample and printables from the store to create a rustic-themed tag. The colors in the wood printable are subtle and repeated in the small watercolor.

The close-up image shows so much detail in the printable colors and texture to the subtle ink blending around the edges. You can see how simple the watercolor painting is and how it works well when cropped into a circle.
