Making The Templates

cricut maker

I used a Cricut Maker to cut the bow templates from a cereal box. To make the templates sturdier, I cut two of each size.

templates

The cutout templates are ready to be taped together. I used double-sided tape between the two pieces.

Making the Bows

ribbons

I used a variety of different spring colors and sizes of ribbons from Gwen Studios.

This project was created for Gwen Studios. You can find all the design team projects listed on the Designer Crafts Connection website. Gwen Studios products can be found at Walmart and Michaels.

process

It is easier to show how to make a bow than to explain it. Please watch the video tutorial for the easy way to make bows using the templates. These templates can make single, double, and triple bows. You can also combine different colors together.

Template Files

The template file is available as an SVG file or a PDF printable. The SVG file will work with your personal cutting machine. If you don’t have one, the templates are easy enough to cut by hand using the printable PDF file as your guide.

Trying Cricut Foil Transfer

An elegant card using Cricut Foiling. #affiliate @officialcricut

final card with foil

As a crafter, I am always on the lookout for new tools and supplies to expand my creative horizons. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Cricut Foil Transfer, and I have to say, I am impressed with the results. Despite a small hiccup during my first attempt, the finished product had a beautiful, professional-looking finish with vibrant foil accents. I am excited to continue experimenting with this tool and discovering all the possibilities it has to offer for my crafting projects.

paper

I used cardstock from CutCardStock for the card in the colors Kraft and Ruby. CutCardStock has a great variety of affordable cardstock.

cricut foil

Using a Cricut Maker to create a foil transfer with the foil transfer tool. This version didn’t work which you will see in the video tutorial. You really need to tape down the entirety of each side so it doesn’t pull up on you.

close up foil

A close-up of the foil. This was using the thickest line of the embossing tool.

card parts

Here are the parts of the card. I foil-embossed the ruby cardstock on a Cricut Maker and then I heat-embossed a sentiment on the Kraft cardstock.

Here is a close-up of the sentiment on the card. These colors are so elegant together.

Etch Glass and Patina a Frame

Etching glass and using a patina kit on the frame for a clover decor. @etchallcreme #sponsored #designteam

with etchall etching creme

finished decor

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I am making this clover decor. However, I think it is general enough to display year round. I am using a free clover SVG to etch a glass frame. The frame is altered with a Patina kit.

A link to the free SVG file will be at the bottom of the post.

The links provided are for your use and may contain affiliate links.
They cost nothing for you to use.
Thank you in advance for supporting this site with its use.

materials

The Patina kit is from Modern Masters and the etching creme is from etchall, both are available on Amazon. The frame is from the Dollar Tree.

Etch Glass

alcohol

After taking the frame apart, clean the glass with Rubbing Alcohol. Use the highest percentage you can find. As an alternative you can use hand sanatizer.

vinyl on glass

The vinyl design was cut on a Cricut Maker. After weeding, apply the vinyl to the clean glass. Make sure to watch the video tutorial for step by step instructions as well as a few tips along the way.

etchall on glass

The etching creme takes only 15 minutes to etch the glass – quick and easy.

etched glass

After cleaning with a baby wipe and removing the vinyl, here is the design. The white appearance is created by a chemical reaction from the etchall and the baby wipe, it still needs cleaning.

Patina the Frame

patina kit

For the next step, I am going to patina the frame with a kit from Modern Masters.

copper on frame

There are basically three steps to the kit: primer, copper, and then patina. Be aware there are drying times between each layer and step.

patina frame

Here is the finished frame after using the patina kit.

Finalize

metallic wax

My idea was to have the wall show through the glass, so no backing on the frame. But the etching casts a shadow so I altered the final piece. I added a rub on wax in copper to the etching and then used a solid color behind the glass.
