Card Making

Follow along the creative process for making a card, staring without a plan.

and the Creative Process

I began making this card without a plan. I take you through the entire creative process from start to finish using minimal materials. The process begins with ink smooching to make a background for the card. And from there, choose colors that coordinate.

For the sentiment, I used a word from the Word Art file located in the store. You can access that file here: https://tryit-likeit.com/product/word-art/

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.
A special thanks to those brands who sponsor this site. Some links are affiliates, thank you for using them.

The sentiment is raised using foam tape and the bloom is tucked into the top. You also get a sense of the glitter splats from the Unicorn Spit paint.

Video Tutorial:

The image above shows the finished card and a peek to the inside. I like to take elements from the front of the card and carry them into the inside. You can also see the slight 3D effect of the bloom on the front of the card.

B U tiful Empowerment SVG

Make an empowerment shirt for yourself or a gift with this free svg file. #svg

This month I am participating in an SVG hop with the theme of Motivational Quotes.

A while back I create a few different empowerment shirts for my daughters. I had the file on Design Space but if you don’t own Access you can’t use the files so I decided to remake one of the images as an SVG so everyone could access it.

This image is a play on words. Not only does it say beautiful it also says to be you – because that is beautiful. I fully believe in treating your children how you want to see them as a person so they will grow into those beliefs.

Grab the free SVG file from the store here: [BUtiful SVG]

The above image is the original shirts I made for my daughters. I am including the image to show you a different color combination. The design is slightly different but I stuck with the image on the shirt in the pocket location. An enlarged image on the front of a shirt would also be nice.

Not sure what Cricut tools you need or should use? Check out this post – What tools to Buy.

Need to know about the different vinyl products available? You can learn all about it at About Cricut Vinyl.

Are you confused about the different colors of mats? This article will clear it all up for you. Which Mat Do I Use?

Making a Rose Card

Making a rose card for Valentine’s Day with Makers Movement.

with Makers Movement

For Valentine’s Day, I am making a sweet rose card using a die and paper from Makers Movement. The paper pack is so colorful and the rose die is very versatile. I cut a lot of roses and ended up using only one for this card so I have more to work with.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.
A special thanks to those brands who sponsor this site. Some links are affiliates, thank you for using them.

Crossover II

The rose dies cut really well with the CrossOver II. The die provides the inside and the outline of the flowers so there are many ways to use the parts. I chose to work with two colors of pink inset together but the outline of the rose is beautiful on it’s own as well.

Above are all the pieces I used to make the card. Everything is cut and ready to put together. The video tutorial below shares a special tip for keeping the pieces together from the die using washi tape. Let me tell you, without this tip, trying to piece them together isn’t as fun as you might think.

Redeeming Love : The Movie

I saw an early release of Redeeming Love, here are my thoughts.

I am probably one in the minority that has never heard of the book Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. So I didn’t know what to expect going into the viewing of the newly released movie by Universal Pictures. I imagine the lovers of the book will head in droves to see this release.

Knowing very little going into the viewing, but that it was a Christian-based movie, I was uncomfortable with the themes of prostitution, sex trafficking, and child abuse. I didn’t connect it to the story of Hosea in the bible until afterward.  These hard themes are handled well in the movie sharing enough for you to understand the situation without making it too uncomfortable to view.

Did I enjoy the movie? – a hesitant yes. I struggled with Angel continuing to turn back to her abusive lifestyle. I don’t relate or understand the emotional reasons for doing it so it frustrated me. On the other hand, all the scenes with Michael portrayed him as content and confident in himself. You could see it in his demeanor and actions to the point of almost being unrealistic. Even with the differences between these two characters, I found myself liking them both.

Now having seen the movie, I am interested in reading the book. I can’t speak to how similar the two versions are to each other. I would be interested in knowing what others think who have read the book prior to seeing the movie.

Redeeming Love in theaters starting January 21st and you can buy tickets at the following link:
https://tickets.redeeminglovemovie.com/

Many thanks to Universal for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation.
