Making a wrapped vase decor piece with CutCardStock.

Vase Decor
This wrapped decor piece was really fun to make. I am using a tall vase from the Dollar Tree and wrapping it with Stardream Metallic Bronze cardstock. My initial plan was just to do the wrap but when I saw the pieces that were weeded out of the cardstock, they looked like petals to me and I just couldn’t let those go to waste. And I am glad I didn’t because the addition of the flowers really adds to the vase.
I used this beautiful Stardream Metallic Bronze cardstock. The cardstock is smooth and metallic. The base of the cardstock is black with a mica pearlescent coating on both sides. It really is beautiful and shimmery in person.
This cardstock is thick, it’s 105#. I tend to use washi tape to make sure it doesn’t slip or move while cutting. I used a setting of 100# cardstock. Cutting it twice would definitely help.

I couldn’t waste those petal shapes. Making a double-layered flower, I added a center of gold and a green metallic embellishment dot. Plus I have more petal shapes I can use for another project.

Here you can see a close-up of the flower as well as the wrap around the vase. The pattern the wrap projects with a light inside is beautiful. I chose to add an electric tea light into the vase, I am not sure about a real candle with paper on the outside.

Make a festive holiday decor with a napkin wrapped candle.
When I saw this napkin at the Dollar Tree, I knew I wanted to use it with some kind of candle craft. I love this technique for making a festive candle for your Christmas decor. But, depending on the design of your napkin, you can do this any time of the year or for any season.

Most of the items I used were found at the Dollar Tree making this a very affordable and economical craft. The only item not shown in the photo above is the heat gun.

Here is a close-up of the finished candle. You can see how the melted wax has integrated the napkin with the candle.
while this project was made for decorative purposes, if you choose to light the candle, do not leave it unattended.
Pantone has chosen their color of the year for 2022, meet Peri.
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2022
“Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ comb the world looking for new color influences. These can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions.” This is the first time Pantone has created a color for the color of the year instead of choosing one from their vast palette. Pantone hinted at the impact the digital world had on creating this color.
Here are some of the past colors of the year chosen by Pantone. While gray is a very neutral color it does seem very appropriate for the year 2021 doesn’t it? Of course, Pantone also chose a yellow to complement it. You can see that in 2016 Pantone also chose two colors of the year. This fairy wand was so fun to make, I love the color combination. I’ve never curled this kind of ribbon and it was fun watching it go from straight to curly after heating. I am sure your little girls would love to have one to play with.

The ribbons in the photo above are wrapped around 1/4″ dowel rods. The bottom one is glued in place while the others were placed in the oven at 250 degrees for 20 minutes to curl them.

Making a get-well card with Fairy Stamper stamp and stencil.

As a part of the Fairy Stamper’s Video Design Team, I have a new card tutorial for making a get-well greeting card. I could probably send this to myself as I am getting over a cold that lasted a long 2.5 weeks where I lost my voice. So I have a lot of catching up to do. Thankfully, no Covid, I was tested twice!

Rinea Foiled Paper – die-cut sentiment
I wanted to try something different with my stamping in that we typically stamp in black and I wanted to use white. I wasn’t sure about stamping a fairy in white so I chose to work with the florals. I also wanted to use a stencil to texturize the background and I really like how that turned out.
