Layered Color Stamping

Follow along to learn how to layer colors with your stamp to add interest and dimension.

final card

Using a layered stamping technique can add interest and dimension to your project. I am working with one stamp set from Fairy Stamper, the Fairy Branches, and applying layers of different ink colors to the stamp. With a stamping platform, you can stamp the same image over and over again and get perfect alignment.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.

Christmas Town Lantern

Add this DIY paper lantern to your Christmas decor.

town lantern

This Christmas Town Lantern will add beauty to your holiday decor. There is something special about decor pieces that light up at Christmas time, they really set the mood. Cut out the SVG file from cardstock, fold, glue, and insert an electric tea light. Everyone will be amazed at your creativity.

cricut

The SVG file is designed to cut from one 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock. I cut mine on a Cricut Maker but any personal cutting machine that accepts SVG files can be used. Don’t forget to set the fold lines to score before cutting.

Be gentle in removing the cardstock from your mat after cutting. There are a lot of little delicate pieces you don’t want to tear. Make sure all the windows pieces are removed before starting any gluing. Fold all the score lines in the same direction. Next, you will need to measure and cut the insert. I used vellum for mine. Other materials you might consider that will work are tissue paper or rice paper.

Visit the store to purchase the SVG file. [town SVG]

Christmas Tree Decor – free SVG

Cut a Christmas Tree for your festive holiday decor with a free SVG file.

with CutCardStock

Christmas Tree Decor

What a fun Christmas decor piece to make. You can choose to add a light that creates wonderful shadows or just leave it as it is. I chose to add a gold star to the top but the file comes complete with a star in the same color as the tree. There is also a separate star included if you want to add a different color as I did. Wouldn’t it be fun to make a few of these in different sizes for a mantle?

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.
A special thanks to those brands who sponsor this site. Some links are affiliates, thank you for using them.

I used this beautiful Bonsai cardstock that has a slight texture and cut it on a Cricut Maker at a setting of 100#. The cardstock is 80# cover weight but cuts really well at a slightly larger setting. The gold stars were cut from Stardream Metallic Gold. Be sure to cut two, one for each side of the tree. The gold cardstock is smooth, metallic, and heavier than the green so be sure to change your cutting settings.

The SVG file comes with cut and score lines. You will need to set the lines to score before cutting. The file isn’t that detailed but the folding does take a bit of patience and care. The video below will walk you through the folding process.

Video Tutorial:

with light

Here you can see a close-up of the tree with a color-changing electric tea light inside. Although it is not very dark, you can begin to see the cool shadows that are cast from the tree. (please do not use a real candle, the paper will catch fire. – do I really need to say this?)

DIY a Monogram Notebook Gift

Make a quick and easy monogrammed notebook gift.

Thoughtful gifts don’t need to cost a lot. I think anyone would love to receive a monogrammed notebook and they are so quick and easy to make. I bought the notebook at the Dollar Tree, they come in different colors but I loved the pink one. I cut a quick monogram out of vinyl on my Cricut and it is done.

Many of the items I use in posts are provided by the manufacturers to promote their products.
A special thanks to those brands who sponsor this site. Some links are affiliates, thank you for using them.

cricut maker

I cut the monogram on a Cricut Maker but any Cricut machine would work. The frame is from Cricut: Decorative Leaf Frame(#M1BB7B4). If you want to use my file here is a link to the project. [monogram] This project is also great for using up leftover scraps of vinyl.

After your monogram is cut and weeded, apply your transfer tape and peel off the backing paper. Apply the monogram to your notebook and you are done.

Cookbook Giveaway

Enter to win a Pre-Diabetes Cookbook.

The Everything Easy Pre-Diabetes Cookbook

cookbook cover

I have to admit, I love reading cookbooks and collecting recipes. I am a bit of a picky eater but that doesn’t stop me from finding things I might like. Sadly, my husband and I are diabetic. I thought this cookbook might have a few recipes that we could incorporate into our diet – it couldn’t hurt! I was happy to accept the offer to review and giveaway a copy of The Everything Easy Pre-Diabetes Cookbook.

The above image shows a sample recipe in the book which includes 200 recipes. There is a decent amount of information on each recipe page along with some tips like how to prepare a pomegranate. I am also really excited about the variety of different salad dressings and soup recipes.

The appendix of the book is a goldmine of information. It includes Salt-free spice mixes, Grocery Shopping Pro Tips, 10 week Plan, and US/Metric conversions.
