Paper Bowls

Learn how to recycle a catalog to make paper bowls. #affiliate @ScraPerfect

Paper Bowls are easy to make. You can recycle catalogs, magazines, or newspapers to make them. Rolling the pages into long sticks is very easy to do. Once you have a bunch of rolls made, you can begin to make them into a form. Depending upon how you roll them, you can change to shape from round, to oval, or even as a square.

This post is a part of the ScraPerfect Design Team projects I post on their blog twice a month.

Materials:

For the bowls I made, I used pages from a catalog and the Best Glue Ever with a no-clog Writing Cap on it. This allowed me to add a little glue at a time which is needed for this project. You really don’t want a lot of glue when you are rolling the pages into sticks.

My favorite sticks have stripes which you can see at the top of the photo. I think it would be fun to make a bowl with just striped sticks. After you create the sticks of paper, begin to roll them together. You can easily add a new paper roll by inserting the ends together. One end of the stick is always smaller than the other end. If you leave them always facing the same direction, the small ends will be together. This process is easier to understand by watching the video tutorial below.

Video Tutorial:

The two different bowls I made are shown above. The first one I painted and that added support to the structure. The second one I left as is but I did coat it with a spray finish which did the same as the paint for sturdiness. Which look do you like better?

Lace Card SVG

with CutCardStock

I have a Lace Edged Card to share with you as a part of the CutCardStock design team. What a great file to be used for a greeting note, a sympathy note, or a wedding. In other words, it is so versatile in its use. It is simple to make because your personal cutting machine does the work for you. All you need to do is possibly weed out a few pieces and fold.

White and Ivory card stocks are being featured this month on CutCardStock. I am using Royal Sundance Brilliant White. You can change the look of the card by changing the color of the card stock. Another option would be to include a liner to show through the lace cutouts. This would be a great addition if you work with a dark color.

As mentioned above there are only a few materials needed to create this project. Use a personal cutting machine that works with an SVG file. The card is designed as A2 size. I cut mine on a Cricut Maker at 100# card stock and I’d recommend adding additional pressure so the need for weeding would be less. If your mat has lost a bit of adhesion, I recommend using washi tape on all four sides of the card stock to hold it in place. I typically add the washi tape because I don’t want the card stock to move and then ruin the cut. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Follow along with the Video Tutorial below for instructions and tips.

Video Tutorial:

Seeing the SVG file in a pastel color makes me want to cut a few in different colors. What color would you cut it out from?

Make the Simply Earth’s Quiet Moment Roll-On. #affiliate @simplyearth

with Simply Earth

The Quiet Momen Roll-On is a recipe included in Simply Earth’s August subscription box. All the oils you need are included in the box. I am so excited to share with you the Simply Earth August Box. This might be my favorite box. Its theme is stress relief and bath. What a great set of recipes.

The recipes included in the August box are:

  • Fuzzy Purple Bath Scoop
  • Toliet Cleaning Bomb
  • Lava Rock Shower Diffuser
  • Purple Striped Bath Salts
  • Quiet Moment Roll-On
  • Self Care Diffuser Blend

To make the Quiet Moment Roll-On I am using three oils, the labels, and the recipe card all included in the box. The roll-on bottle and the Coconut carrier oil were included in my free big box with my first order.

One of the biggest differences I find with Simply Earth is the monthly recipe box. In the past, I have ordered essential oils and when they arrive, I don’t remember what they do or why I ordered them. The Simply Earth recipe box contains the recipes for the oils included in the box as well as necessary additional support products to make the recipes.

The Simply Earth website includes additional support with video tutorials and training materials. You can claim a Free Dilution Chart, take an Essential Oil Hero Course (additional fee), Browse the Toxin-Free Magazine, and get the Free E-book: Essential Oils for Beginners.

The Simply Earth August box is your stress/bath-themed essential oil kit. The items inside when purchased separately would add up to $169.93 but you will get it all for $39 – what great savings! The August box includes:

Oils:

  • Sage Essential Oil
  • Peace & Quite Essential Oil
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil Blend

Extras:

  • Citric Acid
  • Purple Brazilian Clay
  • Lava Rock Shower Diffuser

Making Foiled Earrings

I made a pair of earrings using foiled toner paper designed by Ann Butler Designs. #sponsored @jointhemakersmovement

with Ann Butler Designs

I enjoy making jewelry out of a variety of different materials. Sometimes those materials are unexpected. That is the case with these earrings. I am using patterned toner sheets designed by Ann Butler Designs then applying foil to them. Can you tell the earrings are made from foil and paper? Let me walk you through the process.

I would first like to thank Designer Crafts Connection for the opportunity to work with amazing companies and designers. And specifically for this post, I would like to thank Ann Butler Designs for providing materials used with this project.

There are eleven other projects created for this Design Crafts Connection hop. Please take a moment to visit all the projects to see how each designer worked with Ann Butler Designs.

Working with the floral set, I chose to use this leaf patterned toner sheet and silver foil. The image above also shows a solid toner sheet and carrier paper. To adhere the foil to the patterned toner sheet, I am going to send it through my laminator.

Once the foil is transferred, I use a paper punch to cut circles from the sheet. Then the circles are coated with UV resin. You can see them in the image below.

I am also working with materials provided by Maker’s Movement. Using a die to cut silver faux leather, I ran it through my Mini Maker. The jewelry findings are also from Maker’s Movement.

The entire process can be seen in the video tutorial below.

Video Tutorial:

The faux leather has a white edge and back. To finish the earrings off, I am using a paint pen in silver to change those white areas to silver. This provides a more professionally finished appearance to the earrings.

Sola Wood Flowers

Check out an unboxing of Sola Wood Flowers beginner kit and a few extra items. @solawoodflowers #affiliate

I am so amazed at these beautiful Sola flowers. Having them in hand, it is still hard to believe they are wooden. The flowers are very lightweight and delicate. There are a variety of different styles and they are all equally beautiful. I can’t wait to color and create with them.

I would recommend starting with a beginner kit. They are a great bargain. With two different beginner kits to choose from, a bouquet or a centerpiece, you can start with a beautiful personalized kit. There are different options to choose from with your beginner kit so each kit is different and personal.

Check out my unboxing video that includes my personalized beginner kit and a few extra items.

Special thanks to Sola Wood Flowers for providing the materials presented in this post. If you are interested in purchasing your own Sola Flowers, I would appreciate you using my affiliate link. [Sola Wood Flowers]

When We Last Spoke Giveaway

Enter to win the opportunity to watch When We Last Spoke. #WhenWeLastSpokeMIN #MomentumInfluencerNetwork

When We Last Spoke is an award-winning, heartwarming story of faith, family, and forgiveness, based on a book by Marci Henna. The acting was so good, no surprise since it’s starring Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie), Cloris Leachman, and Corbin Bernsen. I loved the setting of the 1960’s small town and costuming. It brought back a feeling of comfort and happy memories. Don’t forget to bring a box of tissues for emotional and happy tears.

When We Last Spoke recently won Best Picture, Best Narrative, Best Supporting Actor, and more at the Crown Awards at the National Religious Broadcasters 2021 Christian Media Convention!

Don’t miss this heartwarming story of faith, family, and forgiveness! Watch it on Amazon Prime or visit our website to find all the ways to view this powerful movie with the whole family.
