You know craft supplies are expensive, but not all of them have to be. Did you know you can make your own shimmer spray? And, the materials can be found at the dollar store for significant savings. Materials:

  • mica powder eye shadow
  • liquid hair spray
  • empty bottle
  • water
  • glass bead
  • scissors

All the materials listed above can be found at your local dollar store.

Dendrite Experiment Painting

I learned about dendrite painting by watching videos on YouTube. I knew I needed to try it. What I didn’t know was how addictive it was going to be. It was so much fun and the results have a variety of differences dependant upon what paint you use and the amount of paint. Then you can layer it and “try” to control it.

Make Earrings with Alcohol Ink on Metal

I was so excited to receive a variety of alcohol inks from Marabu. Alcohol ink can be used in a variety of different ways. Since I like to make jewelry, I wanted to try a new technique with alcohol ink on metal. The results are stunning!

Materials:

  • die-cut machine (Cross Over II)
  • dies
  • faux leather
  • soda can
  • scissors
  • embossing folder
  • alcohol ink
  • UV Resin
  • UV light
  • jewelry making tools
  • jewelry making findings

Directions:
Cut your soda can with a pair of scissors. If you would like to see a tutorial on how to do this, use the following link. [cutting a soda can] Once cut and washed, I flatten the aluminum and emboss it.

Place the aluminum can in the embossing folder and run it through your die-cutting machine.

Here is the embossed aluminum.

We will cut the aluminum the same way we cut the faux leather with a die and the die cutting machine.

Here are the finished earrings:

round on dark blue faux leather

teardrop on dark blue faux leather

triangular on purple faux leather

and if you look to the left, I have one more pair to make but I can’t decided what color faux leather to use if any at all

I Made Earrings for $1

I made four pairs of earrings for $1! I first saw a friend hall these really cute tassel paperclips from the Dollar Tree and I immediately thought, “those would make cute earrings!” So when I finally found them at my Dollar Tree, I grabbed them. With a few extra materials that I already had on hand, I made earrings for $1 total with 8 gold paperclips to boot!

A special thanks to Maker’s Movement for the jump rings and ear wires.
