This sweet Easter Card was made to show how to do an inset technique using a die-cut. The concept is to insert the negative pieces so that the design is flat when finished. This technique can be used for a variety of different materials that you can die-cut.

We take our kids to concerts, well I should say their aunt takes them more than we do! The girls are teens now but over the years they have collected quite a few band t-shirts and as they grow, they grow out of them. There are some shirts more than others that they would like to keep. So I offered to make a pillow from a recently outgrown shirt. Using a pillow insert from Fairfield World makes this craft easy to do. I ordered a 2 pack of 14″ pillow inserts on Amazon.

band t-shirt
mark the top seam – turn inside out
pin and trim
sew the seam
mark the bottom seam, pin, leave an opening
sew the bottom seam and trim off any extra fabric
because the design went up into the sleeve area, I sewed the sides at an angle
insert the pillow to check the size
hand sew the opening closed
make sure to hide the stitches

There comes a time when every cook needs a conversion chart. It is hard to keep all these different numbers in our heads. You can print this free version and save it for everyday use. The free PDF file is a convenient 4″ x 6″ in size, making it easily fit in your recipe box or tape it inside your kitchen cabinet for a quick reference. Last year on a trip to Greece, I felt so healthy from eating Mediterranean food. The food was so clean and while it filled us up it did bloat us or make us feel stuffed. Folding an origami box is rather easy and can be done with a variety of different papers. This version is made with a printed pattern on regular copy paper. The images are called Bio Dots and I downloaded them for free at The Craft Chop. You can try your own version with whatever paper you have on hand, or download patterns like I did to create your own. An origami box works well for storage or gift-giving. With the patterned paper, it works as a wrapped gift!

Cut two square sheets of paper. I started with 8″ squares. To make the bottom box fit, I actually ended up using a 7.5″ square. So the top was 8″ and the bottom was 7.5″.
To add a bit of stability, I glued a piece of coordinating cardstock into the bottom box.
