Folding a paper frame using Cricut Design Space

Need a frame? They are so easy to make with cardstock. Using a personal cutting machine makes it that much easier. They are very sturdy. Thick enough to also be used as a shadow box. The frames were really easy to make and rather addictive. Fold your own paper frame with this free SVG file.

Materials:

  • 1 – 12×12 sheet of cardstock
  • personal cutting machine (I used a Cricut Maker)
  • optional adhesive
  • SVG file

Open the file in Design Space, ungroup. Select all and then center the two layers vertically and horizontally. Then attach, change the red box to score, and then cut.

Special thanks to Cricut for providing the Maker making this project possible.

Directions:

Begin by cutting out the SVG file linked above.

This is what the SVG file looks like. The black outline cuts and the red lines need to be set to score.

The video below will show you how to set up the file in Cricut Design Space as well as how to fold it after cutting.

  1. Mine doesn’t look like that on cricut. It is pure black with a red block. I am also not able to watch the video. I did earlier but it won’t work now.

    1. Thank you for letting me know. I have fixed the post and it should work now. See the additional directions I added under the download button.

    1. In Design Space, I would slice it across the middle and stack the two parts until you reach the square size and then weld them back together.

  2. I chose to use this shape and scale it up for a diamond painting. It worked just fine i just needed to use scissors and a pizza cutter to score my lines for folding. Works great.

  3. My image on the mat is a red square in the center, but not black and no score lines.
I’ve centered it horizontally and vertically. Nothing is showing on the far right so that I can change to score. Hope you see this :0) and will be able to tell me what I need to do.

    1. after you have centered the two layers, attach. Then choose the first layer (the red box) and set it to score. Now you are ready to cut.
