Pirate Dinner Review

July 4, 2014
We just attended the Pirate Dinner Adventure in Buena Vista California. I am going to share with you a variety of pictures from our visit. Keep in mind because of the nature of the show, I was not able to use my flash so the photos are grainy at best.
Having never attended a Pirate Dinner I didn't know what to expect and I couldn't find a lot of information online. So, I am going to share the kinds of things I was looking for online. I hope some find it helpful.
Our show began at 7pm. When making the reservation over the phone we were informed that the doors open as early at 5:30pm and there were free appetizers, drinks and a pre-show. We arrived close to 5:30pm and there was already a decent sized line waiting to check in and get tickets. (reservations are required) Below is an image taken in the waiting area/bar. The area got to be standing room only and rather crowded towards the start time of the performance. (think herding cows)
After the pre-show, the crowd entered the theater according to their color area seating. Six different areas in the theater are divided by colors: green, blue, orange, purple, yellow and red. We were seated in the red section and therefore rooted for the red pirate during the evenings event. Below is our red pirate.
The theater from our seats - table 8 red section. Before the show began.
Dinner is served during the program. Soft drinks are included in the theater but in the waiting area, they are for sale. There is a choice for the first course, either vegetable soup or a salad with house (ranch) dressing.

Next is the main course. For children, it was chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Adults could choose between beef kebobs with potatoes and mixed vegetables or a roasted chicken with rice and mixed vegetables.

Dessert was chocolate cake and ice cream. At this time, coffee was also offered.
Overall the food was decent. The show was exciting. My only complaint would be the cost of additional options. As you get your tickets and head towards the entrance a photo is taken and offered during the show to take home ($20 package). As you enter the building, there is a booth with beads, scarves and flags available in the color of your seating reservation (prices range from $1 - $5 each). While in the pre-show/bar area drinks are available. Water is free, soft drinks were $5 or in a souvenir glass $10 (refills were free). I didn't check the pricing for alcohol beverages. Before entering the theater, there is a gift shop. Once again, I didn't check prices.
These additional options weren't shocking, other events do similar add ons. If you can get a discount savings, it would be desirable making add ons more affordable. So, take note of the discount coupon available:

Pirate Dinner is a special event evening, for a vacation event or birthday outing. The evening we attended, there were quite a few people celebrating their birthday. Many of the attendees walked over to the theater from area hotels, obviously on vacation (as we were). My recommendation would be Try it and see if you Like it, in other words probably a 3 to 4 stars out of a possible 5.
